Could Prince have been a pro bballer? Two guys that I work with tried to tell me that Prince was SO good at basketball that he could have gone pro after High School, but instead he chose music.
This was my reaction: After I got done laughing and telling them they've watched too many episodes of Chapelle Show they still insisted it was true. I know P. likes basketball, and is probably decent--but good enough to go professional? I have never heard or read anything of the sort and I told them as much. Of course they countered with Spud Webb and I said, Spud Webb's like a foot taller than Prince. I said, "What defines 'could have gone pro'? I mean, I could of gone pro, except for the fact that I'm not good enough." They said ask on your prince website... So I beseech you, Prince-ologists of the all knowing .org, please help me prove they are incorrect... Was Prince good enough at basketball that he could have played in the NBA in the late 70s? Thanks! The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Anyone have that old picture from NPGMC (or whatever it was at the time) of Prince (or whatever he was called at the time) standing with baseball in hand looking down on some pro-baller he had supposedly just beaten in one-on-one?

Right, I know that...but there is a big difference between being GOOD and NBA material. I was "good" at basketball in high school and played varsity since my sophomore year, but no way in hell could I ever play in the WNBA. The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

As far as I know, Prince is a very good b-ball player. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Yeah, the NBA is totally overcrowded with 3ft midgets.
He might have been on the school team, but apparently seldom got off the bench because of his height. He said he doesn't play much these days anyway.

He might have been good....but he would have had a face full of Walt's and any other number of players pubes. I don't think he would have been down with that.

It's not only in that picture...
There's a homemade-type PP video from circa 1998, where there's footage of Prince in sweats, going one-on-one with someone. I've seen his shots, and I've seen him spin the ball on his index finger... effortlessly. He had incredible form. "He's a musician's musician..."

Oh, I wouldn't doubt that he's balled a few pros in his time.
