Prince is a grown man. He can't make everybody happy. He has to do whats right for him and follow his gut. I say everybody should chill and be happy that we are all alive to see another day and let Prince live his life. biggrin

KISS sold out from day one and never made any bones about it, artistically or otherwise. Gene Simmons has a quote to the effect of 'Yeah, we sellout. We sell out every stadium we play". They painted their faces, yes, but never with the word 'Slave"

....

Yes, that is what is hard for me to accept. AI is such a HORRIBLE show, at least on Leno, Letterman, or Oprah, Prince would have the chance to discuss the album (how he produced it, or wrote every note of every song) or tour, and you see the entire band so people realize music comes from instruments.

I thought it was an awful idea to go on AI from the beginning...

I don't think he fully sold-out, but I still maintain the performance on AI will reinforce the general American public's belief that he is a HAS BEEN. My office mate (older than me) is not a Prince fan in the least and she thought the performance was okay--but she also said the whole episode was about seeing "great performers from the past." If it weren't for me, she wouldn't even know Prince was still around.

I don't know, I don't watch AI. But it must be a good show to some. It has high ratings, And besides Prince does interviews he doesn't discuss anything. He acts like a goof.

I don't watch AI either...I only watched last night b/c of Prince.

Also, remember that popular is not synonymous with "good". IMO, most of what the general American public finds popular/cool/trendy I consider decidedly bad. (Yes, I'm a bit of a snob.)

*Not all of his interviews are bad--he's usually fairly personable on Leno.

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.
