He was the only thing worth watching last night. Man he threw it down. Okay I'm beginning to sound like Randy. And those twins were unbelievably hot. I didn't even look at Prince once! But I can't see album sales going way up since Ryan only said his name once during applause.

to 3121! I know how excited you were, with the banana boffing and all. Not his best effort, to be sure.

You can show up in assless pants, fuck Paris Hilton (though that's getting a bit too played), or do American Idol. It's just promotion. Sometimes tacky--sometimes appropriate. Selling Out - to me selling out is when you change your art for the purpose of selling records only. 3121 is commercial friend enough, but not exactly a sellout. Also, selling out might entail going against some established Principles that you represent. For example, if the Sexy Pistols do the RRHOF, they've sold out. But if Aerosmith did that, it's just promotion. However, Aerosmith as been known to change their songs dramactically becuase they're hired producers want them to be more "hit worthy"--selling out. Likewise, Prince showing up on American Idol can be viewed as promotion--shipping more units of 3121. Or, selling out--rambling against the music industry, but then ultimate courting it. But I dont' think it's selling out in this case becuase Prince doesn't owe American Idol anything. He doesn't owe Universal anything. At the end of the performance and end of the day, he keeps his masters and millions, and calls the shots as he sees fit. self-serving, but not exactly "Selling out" dead on it. Have you noticed my spelling/grammar is even worse than normal today?

1. He didn't tell anyone to do a search to get the facts right (e.g. it's already been proven the twins can't sing - look at this thread. that's why there's a serach function! etc.) 2. He said about Rave: "even though it wasn't a good album to begin with" not "even though it was a god-aful mess to begin with", not "even though it would've made a 4-yr-old chimpanzee composer hide his head in shame to begin with". just "wasn't god".[...] you forgot one more thing: he didn't say anything about looking stuff up on google either, along with the customary linkage to the answers at hand.

In five minutes, he sold more albums for himself that all the marketing Universal could have ever done. We claim we want him to be a success and then we shit all over him when he gets out there for the world to see. There is no jumping the shark for Prince to me. There is no Vegas Lounge Act Prince for me. I've followed the guy and been a fan for almost thirty years and whatever he wants to do, I'll be there. Thanks to the haters for freeing up the space closer to the stage for me. Preach the truth Romera! I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. I'm still floored and amazed. The fact that he showed up at all was unreal then seeing him do his thing, I was too proud . This is a business and if you were in his position, you'd do the same damn thing. Some of you are in a place right now where you want your business to thrive so if the opportunity came to you, would you really turn it down, even if they let you call the shots on how you wanted your business presented and sold? I think not. Why should Prince be any different than you, whether it's music or a bottle of ketchup?
Prince, thank you for using your brain for this one. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

That is the same exact thing i said. it's looks like they all did their make up in the dark, or in the limo on the way over. Where was Tamar anyway? They REALLY need her on backup. Those twins can not hold it down without her. 1 Thessalonians 5:23

Seems like a dumb question I guess but one of them looked completely different in the face to me Nevermind, just saw the pic thread. They had no idea what Prince sounded like post Purple Rain and always made fun of me for being a fan. AND I just got to work and my boss was estatic about seeing Prince last night and also will be buying the album. So it worked. [Edited 5/25/06 6:22am] An "Idol" party? I knew you were a wild chick. Every Tuesday we go to my friend Lizzie's house to smoke blunts and drink cosmo's. Last night I was making all the drinks (to prepare for my new bartending job tomorrow ) and I'm in the kitchen and everyone starts screaming like a bunch of little girls...I look up and there he is! I had no idea Prince was gonna be on. It was a satisfying night!

KrystleEyes said: Bullshit Sugarcoat it all you like, but at the end of the day it boils down to one thing and one thing only: desperate actions that reek of a shark-jumping sell-out. AI history has proven it's a credibility destroying forum for the well-past-their-prime, over-the-hill, desperate for exposure, has-beens. Prince of 20, 10 or even 5 years ago would never have stooped to this level for a bit of exposure. Hell, if Prince of the '80's could meet the current incarnation he'd shake his head and sigh, happy only with the fact that he still has hair. (It's 3am in Minnie, bring me a camel cos here's the straw that's gonna break its back...) Sell out. The Hef Years truely suck... Did u take your meds today? This is Prince 2006 not the past.
