since I was 11 or 12. I wasn't even into music really before that!

I won the Controversy lp and promo book from a local radio station when I was 11. I went to my first Prince concert at 12.

I listened to a wider range of music growing up; it wasn't all about Prince. Now, I don't make a point of buying a wide variety of music. I only buy the artists I already know and like.

I grew up on J5 so of course I was into Mike, then they were neck & neck from 1999 - PR. P officially eclipsed him by Parade/UTCM...

From the beginning, first album, I was around 9ish. Got hooked at a friends house bcuz they had the album, my mom wasn't really feelin' P. I've been hooked ever since!!

I was hooked at thirteen when 1999 came out. It was instant. There was no other before Prince. Before thirteen, I would on occassion hear his songs and see my older sister's posters of Prince in her room but I was way too young to appreciate him. I still love his music as I did when 1999 came out.

Immediate convert, could'nt get enough.i could'nt get over how much back catalogue there was to get, and lovesexy had just been released so i had new stuff too.

I was 12 years old - 1992. Seven had just been released and I was simply taken aback by it. I dubbed it from the radio and played it over and over on my headphones on a seventh grade ski trip. I never hit the slopes that day because I was much too busy replaying my new favorite song. That was only the beginning . . .
When I started college, one of the girls on my floor had The Hits/The B-Sides, and I borrowed it and did the same sort of replay. At that point, I began building my Prince collection. He's been my favorite since the end of my freshman year, so almost 8 years.

First Prince song I ever heard was I Wish U Heaven when I was 13 and I hated it. Prince naked in the Lovesexy cover didn't help either. It took a few more years for me to like him, until I watch him in concert on Spanish TV. I must have been 16 then

Prince has been my favorite artist since I was old enough to buy my own music. I've only become more of a fan every year.

nope, i ran across 'im during a fit of boredom when i was about 14. before then i really didn't have a favorite artist yet.

I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A PRINCE FAN!!!!!WHEN I WAS IN SCHOOL KIDS USED 2 MAKE FUN OF ME YOU LIKE THAT GUY OR THEY DIDN'T EVEN KNOW WHO HE WAS. BUT 24 YEARS OR SO LATER! I STILL LOVE HIM!!!!!HE IS THE BEST EVEN THOUGH SOME OF HIS STUFF WENT DOWNHILL THERE FOR AWHILE. BUT I THINK HE IS GOING BACK 2 HIS OLD SOUND A LITTLE.

PRINCE has been my favorite artist since 1979.
I have other faves but he's been my number 1.

prince kicked in as my favorite artist when i was about 6. he booted mj from the spot. then in the late 80s (circa batdance and graffiti bridge) he moved down the list a bit. believe it or not, it was the album that moved him back into the number one spot with me. he was resting there for quite some time but recently he's dropped a few spots. tori amos has taken over the number one place on my favorites list and prince hovers back and forth between numbers 2 and 3 with U2.

I've told this story several times before, so why not do it again

I've liked him since I was a little kid , that is 6-7 years old, and saw D&P and SexyMF on TV. Yapp. Also loved to hear TMBGITW on the radio and I thought it was very cool, and weird, to see him on the Muppets. I also remember how strange I thought it was of him to change his name into a symbol. Why would anyone wanna do that? But I wasn't a fan.

Then about 4 years ago I got Windows Media Player, his name popped up in my head and after that I gradually got more and more into him. Now I've been a fan for 2-3 years. And what a feeling!!

Since 1981 when i heard the song "Controversy". I went and bought the album and was sold.

In the early 90s, I was like 5,6,7 etc. I really wasn't exposed to him much. My family would watch him on tv perform sometimes and rant about how freaky he was. Perhaps the first song I heard of his was diamonds and pearls. I loved it but He wasn't my favorite artist.I just became a fan in 2004, when I turned 19. I ordered the hits and b sides. It was cool. The songs were catchy. But when I saw him perform, when he was inducted into the hall of fame it was amazing! Now I am such a die hard fan. He is my favorite artist of all time.

MJ had 83' & P came along & really wore the summer of 84' out. My dad use 2 play 1999 n his band all the time so this was when I 1st heard of him & every since i've had an addiction 2 this man's music!

No, I was in love with Wham! (particularly George Michael). I had Wham! posters all over my room and begged my mother to buy me gold hoop earrings like George wore on the cover of Make It Big. I cried when they broke up and frankly, I'm still a bit depressed that George is gay and will never marry me.
