Can anybody explain to me how Prince met Larry Graham and did they become so close

Prince invited Larry to perform at an afterparty.
(1997-98 maybe)
Larry did not want to go at first.
Sinbad encouraged him to go. He went.
They jammed together...the rest is history.

I heard a similar story from Larry Graham on Larry King Live. He said they happen to be playing the same venue that night. Prince was the large show and Larry the smaller one. I think in Atlanta. After the shows, Prince sent a message to LG asking him to Jam, and they supposedly became very close simply by playing guitar and bass 2gether, they then played more shows and discussed religious matters -- like why does prince cuss, the bible, etc. Oh how I wish they had never met Larry just seems flat out embarrasing sometimes, and prince is becoming the same.

Prince has said that it was Larry's influence that made him stop cursing. Prince used to be quite a potty mouth.

I heard that Larry and Tina once walked out on a show because of the language.

It was also Larry's influence that changed The Cross into the The Christ.

I would say that in the last few years, Larry has been the most influential person who has had an impact on Prince's music.

But Prince wanted to change. I suppose Larry helps him. He needs Larry there as a friend as his support system..I think Prince can be o.k. if Larry isn't around so much,but this is Prince's friend. Prince has been through a lot of stuff with Mayte and the loss of the Baby. But Larry shouldn't make Prince feel like he can't be himself . Prince is a GOOD PERSON. Well they were both Warner Bros artists and when it comes to bass the near enough only two influences I've ever heard P mention are Larry and of course his mentor Sonny T.

I have it on tape. Larry does some songs from his album & they both look shocked at eachothers ability & like they are really enjoying the jam.

I dont like larry's bass playing parsee but he is very good at jamming with P & can play off what P does. Just listened to Last December which is a good example

Folks, you can bash on Larry until the end of time, but (I can't believe I'm saying this) vag. is right. Prince has been changing because he wants to. Larry's influence or not, Prince has choices.
