Joy in repetition and Beautiful strange?

I was listening to the original version of Beautiful Strange this morning and noticed how the intro of the songs sounds very similiar to the outro of Joy in Repetition. Even the drumming in the songs sounds similiar. Were these songs split apart or recorded near the same time? I love them both and they have that quirky "Prince" sound to them.

I'm going to mix them this weekend and see how close they really are. Any thoughts?

'Joy In Repetition' was recorded in 1986. 'Beautiful Strange' was recorded over 10 years later.
