PrintableUh, the bassline to this is hella funky, but P has many funky ass basslines. It doesn't get mentioned alot on here, but to me, the bassline to "Lady Cab Driver" is the shit. He's hitting some damn near "out of key" notes on that which is brilliant, cuz it works. That's why I like it so much cuz it's not your standard traditional funk bassline. TALK!!! The drumming is tight too..... Lady Cab Driver to me, is basically a vehicle to show folks how hard P is as a musician. That song highlighted his skills as a musician; his bass playing, his drumming and that short but coldblooded guitar solo. I always thought that he was sending a message to all of the folks who were thinking that The Time was kicking his ass. My vote would go to the bass line on The Jam. Good fun to hear the bass lead the song! I think it comes out best in that NAACP (are those the right initials?!) show he did that you can download from his site. |
