In my opinion, the membership entails more than simply the 4 albums we are promised. Ideal concert seating, soundchecks, Celebration privileges, the Days of Wild CD and downloads (1+1+1 is 3 live) are also benefits.

I didn't get to go to the Celebration, so I didn't receive a Days of Wild CD. I got the Silicon download last year as a member. But it's all cool, I understand where you're coming from. Although, you got to admit the albums are costing us something.

It's all cool. Life is too short for negativity. Construtive criticism is a long way from being mean and nasty. Example, go and re-read my first post on this thread. I edited it for you a while back.

I was supposed to be there this year, but the family member that was supposed to come stay at my house and watch my daughters backed out on me. And I was going to pay their way here. I was too pissed. Exspecially when I found out that my daughters could have gotten in free. I never saw that advertised before the celebration, but I read it somewhere after it was over that kids under 12 got in free. That would have been the greatest. I was sick. But I will be there next year. No doubt.

We all want a big hit again because

ONA is an album to listen to when in the right mood - not an everyday-whatever-the-mood album by any means. IMO both ONA & TRC have been a total departure from Prince of old - more personal and reflective and not aimed at the commercial market in any way. Maybe that's why it has met with mixed views. Personally. I love the newer introspective sound Prince is producing but maybe I'm getting to be an old git!

I agree ONA suffers from the worst crime- it's BORING! It does nothing for me and the lyrics are lame. I was looking forward to a Pince piano album, in fact I've made my own Prince ballads cd, but ONA was way too serious, slickly produced and very, very boring. There was no "Father's Song" "How Come You Don't Call" or "Free" style songs. Even "Sweet Baby" seems like genius compared to this John Tesh schlock. Wake up Prince! Get it back or just take a break for a year or so.

OK, the other thread was getting long as hell. I'm one of those people who read everybody's comments before posting, but most do not and I wanted to be heard. Selfish, but true.

I think the One Nite Alone CD I received from NPGMC is by far the worst excuse for an album he has ever done. If it was a bootleg that wasn't intended to be heard as a complete work for sale then it would be cool. But considering it cost around $25 dollars it was a rip. I got the $25 price by dividing $100 by the 4 promised albums.

Come on, most people agree that the "COME" album was not his worst. So we can get past that. But tell me honestly, for all of you who own this album, do you honestly have one other Prince album that is worse than this one? I seriously love the man's work, but I feel this album was not thought through. Sure it's cool to have an all piano recording of Prince, but I would like it better if it was a bootleg. Because that would make it more of a novelty item than an album, which he marketed it as. OK, I know I'm going to get pounced for that last sentence, but that's cool.

WRONG< WRONG< WRONG. you idiot. $100 divided by 4 is $25 if the only thing you got for your $100 was 4 CDs. Members get more than 4 CDs so your elementary school math is busted, dickhead. How much for the downloads? How much for the free CD single at Xenophobia? What about the 2 free aftershows I saw on the tour this year? Factor those in and the CD is damn near free.

If the same disk had been released on Thunderball or Sabatoge people would have paid any price for it and it would have been his greatest masterpiece. People are dumb.

I never said I HATED it. I said it is, in my opinion, his worst album. That doesn't denote hate. Listen, if people can have a favorite and pick best, then they can have a worst or leased liked. I can't hate it. I'm a fan. I just don't think it's as good as any of the others on a total comparison. I don't think anyone is wrong for thinking it's great. The other thread that started this said the "COME" album was the worst. Each person is entitled to their opinion, but please don't get me wrong. I don't hate it.

Your story keeps changing by the end of this you'll say it's your favorite of all time. lol.

I think you just need to give ONA some time...I thought it was a "throwaway" album at first...except "Pearls B4 The Swine" which helps to remind us all of his ability as songwriter and producer...but I have to admit that it has grown on me after giving it a chance.

It's a very mature album...something we've been waiting on for a long time. It's also a great platform for his voice...truly amazing.

Just the other day I noticed how "Have a Heart" and "Objects In The Mirror" are really the same song..."OITM" ends with the same instrumental lines that open "HAH." Stuff like that is what takes repeat listenings to find.

Definitely not his best...but not his worst...that would be "NewPowerSoul."

Dear DaddyMan

U should have paid attention from the beginning. It was know about kids till 11 years were free from the beginning.
See all the dreadfull discussions about this a few weeks ago.
Maybe is u were at the celebration would have felt the piano-feeling more as he did a great piano show !!!
And talking about people's worst Prince album: mine is (despite the fact E & F and Joy in repetition r on it) Grafitti Bridge. 2 much other bands!!
And Emancipation should have been so much better as a 2-cd.
The good songs get lost between the "bad"(still better than music by other artists) ones.

peace 2 all the orgers

p.s. When do we stop this useless discussions about personal taste. Stop negativety !!!

I think One Nite Alone is great! It's personalized for me and it really captures the essence of Prince on piano. When will people realize that the price of One Nite Alone was not $25?

Once again Moonbeam puts things into wonderful perspective.
One Nite Alone(like all Prince releases)need to be taken for what they are.
You either enjoy the uninterrupted beauty of ONA or you don't.
I still get chills when I hear the title track, Here On Earth and A Case Of U.
Prince is giving us such breathtaking honesty and beauty through his music,we should be very thankful.
Here's some advice...
Take a long bath, pour a glass of your favourite wine and enjoy One Nite Alone...

mostly old school ballads, but i like luther, teena marie, anita baker, and even michael franks..i like his intimate moments cd...it felt like an intimate jam.ona sounds like throwaway material.i'm sorry but that's the honest way i feel(and i probably have more prince material than most of u)i've pretty much heard everything possible by him.NO RIGHT OR WRONG IN THIS,JUST A DIFFERENCE OF OPINION.

Lewis has spoken. cool

Seriously, NPGMC did hype it a bit 2 much...but I 4 1, like it. Yes, it took a while 2 recognize the melodies but afterward I saw them as really special songs. ONA helps u relax because as wellbeyond has said, ur on one emotional level the whole time. It's not like TRC where it changes from uptempo 2 slow and back again.

One major reason it's good 2 me is because Prince's voice isn't buried in a huge wall of noise. It's just clear, and the focus is on his piano-playing , which is great I might add. (last minute or so of the title track--wow. love)

One Nite Alone confirms my belief that Prince is rediscovering that something that separates him from the average hit-maker. Sure, the album is hardly polished, but as has been pointed out endlessly elsewhere, albums like "Rave" and "NPS" have shown us where studio and commercial polish lead Prince. Some of these songs are simply superb: "A Case of U" certainly ranks as one of his finest performances on disc, and "Avalanche" is a haunting, powerful classic. These tracks alone are worth more than any of his late 90's dross.

In both TRC and ONA Prince seems to have relaxed his grip on the composition of songs- his compositions are more flexible now and move in strange and unpredictable directions. Sometimes this leaves me yearning for the coherence of his pop work, but on the whole it seems to have unleashed that spark of brilliance that has always underpinned his best work.
