i would say the only thing i don't like about him is how "fan unfriendly" he is..
there are many that have supported him for more than 20 years (like myself) and yet he can care less about getting his older catalog remastered..because he prefers to "not look back" unless of course its convenient for him

there really is no reason for the Musicology concert not to be on DVD yet
the copies that are floating around the file sharing networks are of excellent quality and really dont need much work done to them to make them an official release but of course he wont cuz he already made his money and couldnt care less if we his fans would love to have that concert in our dvd players

i could keep going but you guys get my point

other than that I love the guy!

He seems to take credit for a lot of other people's work... Example: The lady who wrote Soul Sanctuary...

the "fan unfriendly" thing is something that bothered me too ... until i was older and got to see Prince a few times up close ... i personally now think he is VERY FAN FRIENDLY ... with regards to his "free concerts" i have attended .... paisley park concerts, celebrations, website ... etc ...

while alot of fans wish he would just show up for a lil concert in private for them .... i doubt if that will ever happen ... but your point is well taken .

the "taking credit" thing is also a legit ... but ... there again ... in the business of "entertainment" etc ... i think there are alot of things that are SHOWN but not really DONE .... i remember someone argueing with me in college about a Beatles song .. and i said Paul and John did not write "richard cory" (i think the song was called) and we looked it up ... and sure enough it was a cover of a Paul Simon song ... but there was a perception that the Beatles wrote all their songs cus they are GOD ...lol ... i think alot of entertainers want themselves to look better than they are ... and Prince with his "produced , played etc .... by himself ... in defence of Prince i think he promotes alot of his "past friends, etc " very well .... and mentions them alot .... in thanks , etc ....

my #1 think i do NOT like about Prince are some of the DOOs ... damn those hairstyles like the typhoon , etc .... ugh ....

His appearance in the 90s used to bug me. Pretty fruity. The suit look fits him pretty good so he's improving in that dept. The main thing that bugs me is that I know he's one of the baddest guitar players on the planet and every album only has one or two (if we're lucky) guitar songs on it.

If there is anything I don't like about Prince is that he's done a really lousy job at promoting his albums for most of his career. Him not doing promotion means we don't see him as much. Even when he does promotion, he does it, IMHO, half heartedly. With Musicology, there were plenty more TV shows he could have done before the tour and he didn't do them. And look at 3121, nuff said.

Plus like others said, there have been too many announced projects that still haven't seen the light of day and that's sad. Why announce them if you aren't going to release them?

Another thing. Prince loves to talk about what's wrong with things like the radio and record companies but he never does anything about them. You'd think after all these years, Prince would have started somthing like a coaltion for artists against record labels or worked more with radio and MTV during those early years but nothing. I believe that us fans are paying for all the things that Prince has said over the years. Why do you think we haven't heard Black Sweat all over the radio?

Gosh how I miss those Sexy Nasty songs Prince use to put out for
us to groove too..... I do understand he is older now and
he had matured a bit but those songs were all just SO funky..
When I hear songs like "lolita" "Black Sweat" and "Illusion Coma Pimp
and Circumstance" I can't help how GREAT these songs would of sounded if
he would of released them in the 90's!!!!!

I also fully agree with the "promises broken" thing too. I have been
a HUGE Prince fan since 1979 and I have seen SO many things
promised to us and they NEVER appear.. What happened to the
"I'm gonna Flood the market with CD's" he said after he left
warner??

I met The Artist in 1996 at the offices of Warner Brothers in LA. He came in sucking on a lollipop and being shy. I actually dug him instantly. We talked about what he thought I should do at that time musically. I was impressed with his forthrightness. He surprised me by saying that the album after Soft and Wet, which was his first big hit, was sort of a compromise for him! His advice was that I follow the same route. When “Emancipation came out, WITH Soul Sanctuary on it, it was a surprise to me! I went about finding out what I could via my publishing company, and swifty received a check from his majesty in the mail. But since then, I’ve seen these songs coming out here and there, with no form of recognition or royalty for myself or the other writers that worked with me on the songs. The only one that I knew of beforehand was “I’ll Never Open My Legs Again” ( I’ll Never Be Another Fool), and that’s because Chaka told me of course. Anyway...

I totally dig Mr. Man, but I don’t understand why someone as talented as him works like this.
