Prince + Charity = ??? I just remembered that vision of Prince sitting there with that wicked piano at the RaveUn2 show ("take a look at my new piano y'all") ..that lil devil... And all the other fancy stash he has, special made for him.
I was just wondering...has Prince ever given some of his money to help others (like hospitals and things like that) Many popstars and famous people do that, since they have a lot more money than they need.

There have been many stories about Prince's charitable contributions thru his career...but as Supernova said, they usually don't take place with cameras flashing while he hands a check over to some foundation...nor did he necessarily have a PR agent gettin' the story out to the magazines each time he contributed...but there have been enough over the years to indicate that Prince is indeed a charitable person...

he has given to a lot of charities over the years. some we will probably never know about. i do remember him giving over 100k to a school that was going to be torn down in chicago (i think) back in the day. he was recognized for it on vh1 honors.

Lest we forget the food and coat drives he had at each of his concerts... ^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^
Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect, it means you've decided to look beyond the imperfections... unknown

I also remember hearing about him giving a free concert in Houston for children with disabilities back in the mid-80s.

Um, ever heard of Love4oneanother? Prince has his own charitable organization. Among its contributions have been: $100,000 to Marva Collins Prepartory School in Chicago, $50,000 to the Minneapolis general hospital, $15,000 for aid to Princeville, NC in 1999 to assist with rebuilding a town (the first town incorporated by freed slaves) that was demolished by flooding, the canned food and coat drives, and many, many more. In fact, the proceeds ("ALL of them not a portion") from the Love4oneanother Tour in the winter/spring of 1998 were devoted to the charity with designated local charities in each city of the tour. Tickets to those shows were in the $50 range.

I also recall Prince giving all proceeds to
one of his concerts to Chick's family, after his untimely death. He did the same for one fan's family, i think it was in Boston, when that fan was struck by a car while waiting in line for tickets to Princes' show. Prince is very generous...just ask Larry! LOL. Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

I just wish his charities were less driven 2ward a certain minority (blacks)..and were given 2 EVERYONE in need.
4 more info on what Im talking about read ladycabdriver's MJ vs. Prince essay...it lists many of the charities he's helped but most r only 4 a small part of the population...

I don't think it should matter who he's helping but that he's helping people in general. No one should direct where his charitable works go, he gets to choose that just like all the other celebrities that give back money. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

WHATEVS... My hardearned money goes to L4OA. I think at all future events he should supply cards for each person to indicate where they'd like their donation to be sent. Kinda like the United Way does it...
