One may have heard over the past several years one of many prince sound bites or read in interview where prince says "when I want new music I create it".

This leads me to wonder if he always created music for himself, or once upon a time did he create music for others to listen to, when did his head get so big that his ears are the only ones' to count?

Can this be the reason for prince's popularity decline over the past several years?
