I agree too. I wonder why they released the other one to Germany.

Oh, HELL yeah, the one on the intro page to the npgmc is FAR better nod...still not a great video, but it's much improved removing out the "storyline" with the woman and concentrating on Prince just performing.

The drummer kinda looks like my mom, tho... eek

Clearly a quickie in-house job. If they hired additional video talent, it was totally wasted. This is no better than his laziest videos of the nineties.

My theory is that, after two polished videos that didn't help the singles much, he's decided to go back to his no frills approach. Remember his anti-video Prince was with Rave and the rants that appeared on his website, in which videos were practically dismissed as a costly waste of time? He is probably contractually required to make videos for 3121's singles and he just made this one on the cheap.

At least now we now why this video premiered on MTV Germany. I doubt MTV and VH1 would play it in the US without considerable encouragement($) from Universal or some solid radio play (in which case it would probably be reshot or reedited).
[Edited 5/6/06 12:01pm]

Maybe that's why he sticks his tongue out at the camera at the end...his way of saying "There's your damn video...happy?"...

I laughed my ass off when I saw that - I was like WTF? It looked so childish. I'm still laughing. lol

It better be...it's far superior and has the energy of the song. Let's hide that other one.

BTW, Tamar is a better dancer than the twins and she looks better on camera. She's got that extra something.
Curious to see her video.

After reading some of the responses on here, the video is better than I expected. It is about the same quality as the video for "call my name".
[Edited 5/6/06 15:59pm]

The "Call My Name" video is somewhere around a million times better, in my opinion. At least the production values are top-notch and the editing is professional and precise...on the "Fury" video the production values are standard and the editing is amateurish at best. Here's a hint: if Prince puts out a video which uses the cheesy zoom-in/zoom-out effect, it's gonna more than likely stink up the joint...lol smile

Funny you had people on this board bitching about "Call My Name" Some of you guys are never happy. Does it really make sense to spend loads of money on a video when Universal cannot get the songs on the damm radio.

At this point P needs to get out the road and do some concerts or just start on the next CD.

Very good point. Even if Prince had spent a billion dollars to make a kick ass video, it wouldn't get any airplay so what's the point. The Cinnamon Girl video was a very good video and it received NO airplay... so why waste the money on videos period??!?!?

What?..lol...Do you me "We had people on this board bitching.." or "There were people on this board bitching.."?? hmmm

As for the video for "Fury", the one shown on German MTV was just weak...the inserting of some fuzzy subplot involving the woman running thru the halls and posing in silk sheets and just missing Prince at the studio made the video worse, was inserted in an amateurish manner, detracted from the song and made no freakin' sense whatsoever lol...This isn't an issue of money, it's an issue of talent and creative vision. Whoever had the "creative vision" to put that goofy subplot into the video needs to never, ever make another video for Prince or anyone else lol...no matter how much money is invested into it.

The video for "Fury" is now online on the front page of the NPG Music Club: http://www.npgmusicclub.com ..... The link at Housequake featuring the version of the video with the storyline has now been deleted at the request of NPGMC apparently.... The video is nice... I like the NPGMC version better actually, without the confusing storyline.... check out the tongue from Prince at the end razz

The NPGMC video is terrible. I love the song, but the video will NEVER get any airplay (not that that matters to me...I still love the music)... But, come on - if you're going to do a video, do it right.

The one obvious problem with this video, is that it's a performance video in a small stage setting. Therefore, it would've made sense 2 simply release the SNL performance as the video.

I like the recorded version, and would rather see a creative video with a story line. Maybe like with a furious woman burning up his clothes, smashing up his ride... well... maybe not the ride...

Peace.

I think he screwed up the lyrics on SNL though....maybe that's why they didn't use it. Sure seems like they were going for that look and feel
