A man with one watch *thinks* he knows what time it is, but is lulled into a sense of security he would perhaps be better without; a man with two watches knows that he is capable of being fooled by a watch, which is a good thing. On the contrary, my good man. My whole life I have heard but one version of "I Can't Stop This Feeling I Got" and therefore I know that is a fun, great, bouncy pop song. I do not "THINK" that it is, I am not "lulled into a sense of security" that it is. I simply KNOW that it is a great song. Those that have heard multiple versions will be forever perplexed by which version, or which part, or which vocal, or which guitar line is the best. Sometimes having one watch is better than having three or four.

I totally agree. I delved into the world of Beatle outtakes and the joy is in seeing the creative process. I have a billion different versions of "Strawberry Fields Forever" and the differences in them wonderfully shed light onto what it takes for an artist to creat his art. I am sure you get that sense from listening to your Prince outtakes. The difference between The Beatles and Prince is that The Beatles trail of outtakes has an end. They only have about 213 songs in their entire recording history. One can get into Beatle outtakes and see a light at the end of the tunnel. With Prince, the guy probably has 213 versions of one song. HamsterHuey said: It is indeed a neverending story, but that is what collecting is all about.
I know me. I am a collector. People come to my house instead of Blockbuster to get a DVD for the night. My collector's personality would want me to go all the way with Prince boots. I know if my apetite was whetted by the wonders of his outtakes, I would be robbing banks just to buy all the Prince boots that I can.

You collect movies but you will never collect every one ever made. Does it stop you enjoying the ones you have collected? Same with boots. Why do you need to see the light at the end of the tunnel? Focus on the journey, not the destination. And you don't have to pay a fortune for boots in these days of sharing and downloading for free.

Boots have only increased my appreciation for Prince.
