School smarts don't count for shit, because most schooling is of the cookie cutter style and anyone truley exceptional is forced 2 conform or fail. Scool has it's purposes but it's not the be all and end all. Most teachers and university prfessors a total failures in the real world. And the great majority of us live in the real world!!!!

well, if he is, he has a great command of the english language to be a dropout. did he ever go back and at least get his GED? kinda hard to talk about Jimmy Nothing when he ain't finsih his damn self lol

I was thinking the exact same thing as I was scrolling through. I thought all Prince fans knew this.
I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

See,
what really happened was that after high-school, it's was his stint in beauty school that got interrupted by his musical career.
In actuallity, he's a beauty school drop-out.

Prince Nelson/Roger Nelson
Prince Nelson/Roger Nelson: Singer, Musician. Graduated, 1976. While attending Central he was very active in music, taking as many of these classes as possible. He was a member of the sophomore basketball team and he showed off his talent at the many talent shows. Prince didn’t pay much attention to his academic subjects because, he thought, he didn’t need to because he was going to be a star. He was absolutely right. He has been called a musical genius with hits such as: “Soft and Wet,” “I wanna be your Lover,” “Dirty Mind,” and “Controversy.”

The above material was taken from "Tribute to Triumph: Central High School 1860-1982", published by students of Central High School, 3416 Fourth Avenue South, Minneapolis, Minnesota, May, 1982 for the closing of the school.

glad it worked out for him like that, but is that really any different than telliing a sports star not to focus on your education because you're gonna be a superstar? not hating on him, since it all worked out gravy for him, but still, there's no reason to not get at least a damn diploma--a whole lot of people sacrificed their lives and dignity to give the next generation something they could never have--(pardon the rant) confused

According to several biographies including, Per Nilsen, hes actually a hi school graduate, he did extra credits and in advance so he graduated from Central High on June 7th 1976 his 18th birthday. Apparently in a yearbook, he wrote "Keep it black, Carlos Santana" Prince has always been described as bright and well educated, his ability to write music and master all those instruments, in addition to his organisational skills, displays his superor level of intelligence.
Please don't start a hes dumb thread, if anything Prince is one of the few educated black artists we have today, just some of his song lyrics indicate the man is up with world events (eg Cinnamon Girl).
I THINK IF HE HAD'NT HAD SUCH A PROMISING CAREER IN MUSIC, HE WOULD HAVE GONE TO COLLEGE AND BECOME A PROFESSOR OR EDUCATOR OF SOME DESCRIPTON.

I was only 16 but I guess that's no excuse
My sister was 32, lovely, and loose
She don't wear no underwear
She says it only gets in her hair
And it's got a funny way of stoppin' the juice
My sister never made love to anyone else but me
She's the reason for my, uh, sexuality
She showed me where it's supposed to go
A blow job doesn't mean blow
Incest is everything it's said to be
Oh, sister
Don't put me on the street again
Oh, sister
I just want to be your friend
I was only 16 and only half a man
My sister didn't give a goddamn
She only wanted to turn me out
She [took a whip to] me until I shout
"Oh, [motherfuckersjustamotherfucker]
Can't you understand?"
Oh, sister
Don't put me on the street again
Oh, sister
I just want to be your friend
I know what you want me to do
Put me on the street
And make me blue
Oh, sister, oohoohoooow

nod

fantastic command of the English language smile
Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!
woot!

It should be
oh motherfuckers, hes just a motherfuckin kid, can't u understand.
Just because someone has education dosent mean they have to sound like the Urkel squad.

Besides now ,don't like 30-50% of the adult population in the developed world have university degrees at Bachelors or higher levels. Take me, my posts are full of spelling and grammatical errors (mostly as I am a slow typer and my mind thinks ahead of my fingas, yet I have a Master of Arts with First class honours, and thats only average in my circle of friends.
Actually with his University Diploma, hes average if that in the education stakes, although I understand African American rates of education lag behind White Americans. Also in a lot of British commonwealth and European countries, u don't 'graduate from hi school' but matriculate and get what we call a UE or HSC certificate signifying you are academically fit for university.
However Prince is a Professor Emeritus in funky ass music. biggrin geek geek geek dunce

Definitely creative writing. I think songwriters have a strong command for the language and express his/her feelings very well.
