Contradictions in 3121 : Alcohol, Non-Veg and Peacock Feathers

3121, Full of contradictions.
Contains references to things Prince usually despises.
3121 - drink champagne ...
Lolita - reference to Cavair, considering he's a vegetarian
The booklet shows a dining table with Peacock feathers - Remember 'animal kingdom' from The Truth ?

well, the feathers could be a faux pas, or maybe artificial / fake,

I noticed the Peacock feather place mats lastnight and thought the same thing, but I'm a hugh consumer of animal skins, furs and feathers so it didn't bother me in the least.
Socks still got butt like a leather seat...

does prince despise alcohol or does he despise addiction? does he simply choose not to drink while not necessarily despising it? he's mentioned alcohol before: rose and cherry wine comes to mind.

as for caviar...many vegetarians eat eggs. (though this would not be vegan)

and the peacock feathers could be faux.

OMG!! Remember when Prince said, "Incest is everything it's said to be." Come to find out he's never had sex with his relatives! omg Talk about your contradictions.

What're you talking about? Prince drinks. Half the time you hear a blurb about him in the celeb rags he's mentioned drinking wine or champagne.

How about"Don't abuse children or else they turn out like me" usually a couple of times a month I put that on the speaker systems at my job-just that part-sneak attack when least expected.

No, really. Prince drinks. I don't know this for a fact but the number of times even recently when he's been reported with a wine glass in hand are too often to all be reporting embellishments.

I agree. He probably drinks socially but it's not like he's a drunk or anything.

Too hard for a public figure to hide a drinking problem this long.

Please quote any report wherein Prince has been mentioned with a wine
glass in his hand. I don't think there is any, except the ones where he supposedly offered port to his interviewers.
I think he does not like the concept of intoxication and does not drink.

Here's a few:

"there's only one more glass of this rosé" (which suggests the rest has already been drunk) (Sun, Moon & Stars)
"we could have shared a martini" (Dionne)
"I'll get the music baby, you bring the wine" (Just As Long As We're Together)
"I find another beauty mark with every glass of red wine" (So Far So Pleased)

and don't forget in "The Other Side Of The Pillow" he confesses "I'm getting tipsy" and whistles dunkedly at the end.

Certainly from this evidence he doesn't condone drinking. I think he enjoys the odd wine now and then, but he's generally taken a stand against alchohol addiction.

Wouldn't everyone be against alcohol addiction? The evidence is there, people. Prince needs an intervention. The only reason he isn't a fall down drunk is because he can turn it into a dance move if he stumbles--no one needs to do the splits as much as he does. "Cross the Line" was about him being unable to walk a straight line after he got pulled over at a checkpoint. He's crying for help in his songs.

Well, I don't think anybody's really cheering for the alcoholism team. But to say Prince doesn't drink based on that is pretty naive.

Words without meaning are just sound and Fury signifying nothing. Although some would argue that he hasn't done it much lately, why should he bother thinking about the cohesion of words and lyrics at all? You can't talk about Prince and ignore what he's talking about as if he's some raving lunatic.

Get Your Groove On
"I got some honey and some peppermint tea
That's all I need 2 get my drink on"

He's at least tyring to encourage others to think outside of the box in a culture where so many people equate happiness, having fun, and partying, with being drunk. Hence, subsituting "Groove" for drink and contrasting different personality characters in the song, one girl calls herself "Margarita." Recall, this was the beginning of P's identiy crisis when even his name/change seemed important to how he defined himself.

In the Rave album jacket he did wax on about not even using wool, which doesn't necessarily result in an animal losing it life -- when done right; and the blue suit was not leather. He was notoriously noted to being vegan at that time, so I bet the animal stuff is all man made.

As an artist, P can and should examine all aspects of life when crafting his art, but ever since the beginning, spiritual things have always trumped and worldly topics -- that's what helps define his aesthetic and message. Positivity.

on the other hand, proof that he does not drink / is against intoxication :-

1. The Holy river video
2. If i was the man in your life :-...was it you i saw outside the liquor store ?
3. Get yo groove on :- ...Got some honey and some peppermint tea, that's all i need to get my drink on
4. Ballad of dorothy parker :-....the reference to a 'fruit cocktail'
5. plus many others....
would post more, let me rake my brain. smile
