Seriously the nutcases here need to chill. So what if he does Idol? It's no big deal; when it's your career then you can decide not to do Idol...until then shut your traps. Geez

people complain that he's not promoting his record, people complain if he wants to go on Idol. I'll watch it and hope he's on, although I doubt someone like Prince would go on there.

Old news, and until it's officially broadcasted by FOX, don't hold your breath. Besides, if it were true and he shows around the time of the final four, imagine the chaos that would be here in the forums, somebody call the law! ! ! Imagine him trying to coach the gray haired Taylor to sing Raspberry Beret!!

Show never approached artist, Warwick says

LOS ANGELES -- Earlier this month a rumor circulated that Prince was set to perform on "American Idol." Ken Warwick, executive producer of the show, isn't sure how the story got started, but it wasn't with him.

"I don't honestly know" where the rumor came from, Warwick says. "It was kind of something that I heard on the daily buzz through the office but was never actually put under my nose."

First reported in the New York Post's Page Six gossip column, the Prince-"Idol" story sounded as if it executives at the artist's label were urging him to appear on the massively popular FOX show to goose sales for his latest album, "3121." If there were talks between Prince and "American Idol," Warwick says, the show didn't initiate them.

"One, we don't need to these days," Warwick says. "There's a queue from the record companies, as you can probably imagine because we have 30 million people-plus each week tune in, and so we don't need to go hunting, as it were."

Thank God he's not.

I was almost excited...
