Prince and Guns n Roses

Someone help me here, I'm sure I've heard of quotes attributed towards Prince by various members of GnR and I'm also sure Prince has had something to say about them or Axl in particular. Can anyone help me here or am I losing my mind?

Slash once mentioned that he saw Prince at the American music awards.
He was talking about meeting Lenny Kravitz and how cool that was, then he said something like "but Prince just totally blew us off. He was with his enterage and I might and didn't bother to even say hello."

He then ends with something like "That's ok--he looked like a fag anyways."

At the time of the release of his first solo album, I know that Duff McKagan (G'n'R bass player)has made a cover of Bambi as an extra song of a CD single. He was telling then that he was a huge fan.Unfortunately I've never heard that cover. Can somebody help me?

Slash went to school with Lenny Kravitz; he didn't meet him at the Video Awards.

I can't imagine Prince thinking much of Axl, but Duff's cover of "Bambi" is cool.

none sad

back in the day I had only tapes, usually my nephew had the metal cds, and I copied them to tapes... those were the days. he brought the metal in my house and put the venom in my veins. family went mad and maybe they feared that music could invoke the devil wink in holidays, when he visited me, I was always excited which new band he had discovered (the likes of sepultura, napalm death, later fear factory etc.). Every new band hat to be HEAVIER than the band before. The ultimate climax then was Cannibale Corpse, but in that time I already had dire straits...

(basically there was no money for a lot of cds for me: so I decided to spent the money exclusively on Metallica + Megadeth Cds...).

I like very much guns n roses and prince i read tons of inverviews from both. I saw an axl interview where he mentioned that he met Prince at a hotel in some place, and they chatted a little about music business if memories serves me correct. And i saw Izzy or duff saying that the GUNS crew used to play lots of non-hard rock music before the concerts, and he mentioned Prince as one of the artists they used to play in the stereo.

Duff covered bambi, its very good.
Slash covered peach with Rod Stewart.

THat´s all i knwo about Prince/Guns connections.

theres a small article about the upcoming Velvet Revolver album, where the tagline under the photo describes them as 'serious prince fans'.
Sorum adds that he and McKagan have been going off on their own, "writing a lot of riffs on the road, messing around with all kinds of different grooves, listening to Prince, tripping on stuff." Adding to the funk is hip-hop super-producer Pharrell Williams, recently signed on to work on the release.
