Terence Trent D'Arby (or Sananda) on Prince

http://www.fonkadelica.com/sananda.html

Has anyone seen this interview with Sananda Maitreya? Strange stuff, especially when the interviewer asks about his connection with Prince and similarities in their career paths.

Okay, what kind of "phenomena" happens when he and Prince are together? Better yet, nevermind. I just wonder if he really takes himself that seriously. I honestly think he does and that's certainly something he has in common with Prince.

Maybe it's true that when you're so incredibly gifted in one area, something's going to be lacking in another. It's cool though. Whatever "floats the boat". biggrin

Yeah. The tradeoff is, you get loads of talent, but you lose your mind.

But hey, someone's gotta go nuts and tell us what it's like. It's the artist-hero journey: The man equipped with the most talent is best fit to go over the edge and live to tell about it.

And the shaman. But that's another topic.

SANANDA : Myself and Prince are both emissaries and aliens
We have never consciously sought to copy the other. Our creative egos wouldn’t allow it ! We are obviously both pioneers, he by nature, me by default ! As my musical elder he was one of my teachers.
The truth is that we don’t need to stay in contact because we are in constant contact telephatically !
We are in fact both the same entity.
And it was the will of God that our wine be poured Into two different bottles
( there has even been some spillage into other Artists )
we are careful not to spend too much time toghether physically because when we do ( and this is no lie ) Phenomena happens
And then the next thing you know The Government is on our case.
It was prophecised long ago That the time we are living in now would contain a new type of Hybrid Being Come to help the world out of its pain, we belong to this team !

This is some bizarre shit, y'all. I have to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume the translation is seriously mangled.

Aliens? Telepathy? Wine? Phenomena, Government, Hybrid Beings???

I thought I was reading the Enquirer.

But then again, what if he's ABSOLUTELY RIGHT????

The telepathic thing may mean that since they are both connected to the same creative force that they are in turn connected to each other...inspired by the same things.

The wine in different bottles; that they are 2 different artists with 2 different voices. The Spillage; that they have inspired others. Hybrid being; physical/tangible and tech maybe?...That they are pioneers in this music revolution.

Then again maybe he's a tad bit delusional.

Can't make sense of the "...Phenomena happens..." part.

Feel the "phenomena" below. eek

THE INFAMOUS PRINCE / TERENCE TRENT D'ARBY PERFORMANCE
For years now a story has floated about of a rare and extremely
exclusive performance that took place at Prince's Paisley Park
Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota just outside of Minneapolis. I asked
a friend online that had been lingering about in Prince's inner
sanctum while employed at his N.P.G. shop (boutique) in MPLS around
this time...and he agreed to give me his account of what occurred
that night. Finally, I present to you the first-hand account of the
events during the now infamous early morning jam:

Um lemme see here...I got into the party after the Diamonds & Pearls
show at Glam Slam...I saw Carmen [Electra] for the first time there
and LOVED her...Until she started doing those WAY over dramatic "hip
hop" stupid dances she does..

Anyway.. I was hangin' out and Prince is there and I'm expecting
that, so I'm cool...But then...I turn and WHAM! TTD is standing RIGHT
THERE!!! Not saying a word to anyone if I remember correctly...He
stays there for the rest of the time and then a bit later Prince
starts playing in Studio C...I go in, and I see TTD after a little
while come up and snag a guitar...Strums some sour notes, and P looks
at him like "GET OUT!!!" TTD looks at P and just like a child kinda
puts his head down and walks through a door behind them...The band
played on the floor in Studio C which is actually like a VERY, VERY
small rehearsal studio with mirrors all around the walls...I believe
the door leads to the hall outside in Studio B...

That was the last I saw of TTD until he played First Avenue [night
club] in 1995 (I think it was)...P had a special Love 4 One Another
show after the gig and TTD didn't show up 'till the show ended...We
all had to wait and stand still while TTD walked up the stairs with
his band...Never said 'hi' or anything to the people who were giving
him props for the show that night...

Man.....TTD is on some super serious astrological artistic plane from which there is no landing. He has crossed over into the nether world of daffodils and bullshit.

I cannot tell if he believes this jumbo or just pulling our collective legs.

TTD is a classic example of not knowing how to control oneself...he is a major talent mostly as a vocalist and lyricist but his mouth has ruined his career...SAD sad

The liner notes for TTD's greatest hits package put him on the same level as Prince. I said to myself quietly, whoa

Greatest hits package?

What's that, Wishing Well, If You Let Me Stay, and Sign Your Name? Does he even have enough single releases, let alone hits, to justify such a compilation?

But that debut record was impressive.

I didn't even know homeboy was still making music until a few years ago. I wasn't into him that much when he was mainstream. Whatever the case, Sananda is on some straight up weird shit.
