IN many of the conversations we have about Parade, this song never gets mentioned.

It may not be in most of your personal Top 10's, but the track always makes me smile. It just has an airy, joyful feel to it.

Although I was only 9 at the time this was released, I wish this song would enter his concert playlist somehow.

I remember back in '86 Prince was under the microscope because his sales were "underperforming" in comparison to hitmakers like Madonna, Whitney Houston and Janet Jackson. "How ridiculous," I would think while badly singing along to "Do U Lie." With such gleefully offbeat material it seemed clear that he was more concerned about his stature as an artist than he was about his standing as a pop star. From an artistic standpoint, with "Parade" Prince's creative trajectory was straight up and off the chart.

I love this era of Prince's career and "Do U Lie" encapsulates all that was so wonderful about it.

This song needs to be listened to with an open mind, like the rest of the album. I first got into it when my (non prince fan) friend really dug it, that made me listen again and appreciate it.

I think that 'Kiss' being released as a first single killed of alot of enjoyment for fans in the beginning who were probably expecting a full on funk album. However, thank god the shadow 'kiss' has put over the album is disappearing so now people can appreciate the other great diverse songs on the album!

My 2nd. favorite song offa da Parade album.

I love the chord progressions on this song, try it on piano, it´s amazing and very fun to play and sing along.

It is silly, but in a nice way, not in the Jughead kind of way

The weirdness of it is classic Prince though. That's why Parade is consistently in my top 5 - that album just can't be pigeonholed; there is nothing else like it! I get the same vibe from Lovesexy and TRC.

This is a great track that captures the quirkiness and eccentricity of Prince perfectly. I agree that it encapsulates that whole Paris/Prince vibe-shut my eyes and I could almost be there. I especially like the last 4 lines,the way the vocals dip before the song sighs to an end.
