Paris Match on the promotion of 3121 There is an interesting article on the promotion of 3121 in Paris Match, tellingly entitled "Prince, the King of Whim". I cannot copy the French article here but it contains some credible comments. They seem to have a connection at Universal France that knows what happened exactly.
The article describe a record company disappointed that Prince chose to promote Tamarr in concert instead of using appearances to play the new material. The research is shoddy as they state Prince only performed Purple Rain at the Brits, but still the article paints a convincing portrait of an artist that lets his record company down by not playing his new material live often enough. There are plans for further promotion but the one rumor they print is that Prince will perform 21 concerts in 21 different venues in Paris (I kid you not). http://www.parismatch.fr/...cle_id=945 For the translation : http://translate.google.c...en%26lr%3D [Edited 4/29/06 14:33pm]

Well, thanks for the link. It really says he'll come to 21 places in Paris to perform.
I DO hope it's true. | |

Wow, if it's true that's alot in just one country... He better not forget the rest of the world!

Oh, come on, there's no way Prince would do 21 dates in just France let alone Paris!!! That's just bonkers. Between that and getting the fact about the Brits wrong, this article has no credibility at all. Any of us here could make the assumption that Universal would be disappointed Prince hasn't promoted the album more, it's not that much of a leap.
But no doubt the 21 performances in Paris rumour will now crop up again and again without anyone bother to consider the logistics or logic of such a thing.

Haven't read the article, but unless they have somesort of master plan, I bet Universal is mighty pissed.
