Strong 4.

From Dirty Mind
When You Were Mine
Head
Sister

Strong 3. But you were able to give up Uptown over Sister? I couldn't do that.

From Controversy
Controversy
Do Me Baby
Let's Work

Strong.

From 1999
1999
Little Red Corvette
International Lover

Hmm, International Lover is one of the weaker songs to me. Delirious couldn't fit in there? Even Automatic.

From Purple Rain
Let's Go Crazy
The Beautiful Ones
Computer Blue
Darling Nikki
When Doves Cry
I Would Die 4 U
Baby I'm a Star
Purple Rain

I'd pick Take Me With U over Darling Nikki. Wouldn't it have been easier to just include the whole thing? wink

From Around the World in a Day
Paisley Park
Raspberry Beret
Tamborine
Pop Life

Tamborine makes your top 100? The other 3 are the best on that album.

From Parade
New Position
Girls and Boys
Mountains
Do U Lie?
Kiss
Anotherloverholenyohead

These are probably the best 6. Very strong.

From Sign 'O' the Times
Sign 'O' the Times
Housequake
The Ballad of Dorthy Parker
Starfish and Coffee
Forever in my Life
U Got the Look
If I Was Your Girlfriend
I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man
It's Gonna Be a Beautiful Night
Adore

You took the weakest song(Beautiful Night) over Strange Relationship? disbelief

From Lovesexy
Eye No
Alphabet St.
Dance On
Lovesexy

Wha?? 4 Chances and no Anna Stesia? disbelief smile How can you take Dance On over that?

From Batman
Partyman
Scandalous
Batdance

Puzzled at Electric Chair and Vicki Waiting not making it, but Scandalous and Batdance getting in.

From Graffiti Bridge
Can't Stop This Feeling I Got
We Can Funk
Joy in Repetition
Thieves in the Temple

Strong 4.

From Diamonds and Pearls
Diamonds and Pearls
Cream
Willing and Able
Gett Off
Walk Don't Walk
Insatiable

Strong 6. I'd put Strollin instead of Insatiable, but OK.

From prince
Sexy MF
Damn U

I like alot of symbol, but I feel like the quality is pretty strong until you get near the end. These 2 are about as good as any other Prince-sung songs on there.

From The Hits / The B-Sides
Horny Toad
Erotic City
She's Always in My Hair
17 Days
How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore?

Good choices in BSides. That's a strong 5.

From Come
Loose!
Papa

Loose is good, but I'd take Come, Space or Pheromone (or even Dark or Letitgo) over Papa.

From The Black Album
Bob George
Superfunkicalifragisexy

neutral I just don't like the Black Album enough to include any of its songs in my top 100.

From The Gold Experience
P Control
Endorphinmachine
Shhh
The Most Beautiful Girl in the World
Eye Hate U

I'd get rid of Pussy Control, but that's not a bad 5.

From Crystal Ball
Ripopgodazippa
Lovesign (Shock G's Silky Remix)
2Morrow
Movie Star
Days of Wild

Disagree with all of these. What about Interactive, Crucial, Good Love, Goodbye, Sexual Suicide, etc.?

I don't feel strongly about the rest.

Off to work on my list!

I left off 8 official albums actually, it's a top 100 not a collection of the best off each album.

No, but my opinion is that the three tracks chosen off NPS are superior to any individual tracks on TRC. TRC is a very good album indeed but I don't think it has any stand out tracks. She Loves Me 4 Me is nice, Last December is nice, in fact they're nearly all nice tracks. 1+1 is marred slightly by excessive deep voiceness and is done better on the live album imo.

The 8 albums omited are only done so because I felt they didn't include any tracks strong enough to merit entry in the top 100.

The 8 in question are:

Chaos & Disorder
Emancipation
The Truth
The Rainbow Children
Xpectation
NEWS
The Choclate Invasion
The Slaugherhouse

Not as much work as you'd think, just a few walks with the dog.
I have a huge problem with DMSR though it's my next favourite track off 1999. The problem I have is that I hear distorted sounds halfway through like as if the tape got stuck in the tape deck and it's not nice on the ears. I've turned it way up in the car to see if I was really hearing it. It's almost like static and unfortunately its on all 3 of my copies of the track so it's not my music thats at fault its the track itself.
Nobody has ever answered me about this. I think it starts about 4 mins 50 seconds in.

I don't know what you mean. I guess you're talking about the screams at 4:50? It's not static, it's a scream, with heavy reverb. Maybe you're talking about a different part of the song, but I didn't hear anything unusual on my copy.

u put together a good list....but u left out a whole bunch of songs that take precedence, socially and party/dance list wise...Sexuality....DMSR....Lady Cab Driver....just to touch on his early period....I guess thats the beauty of being a fan, that his library is so diverse that no two folks here can do the same list, like fans of other groups or artists.....so ur list, while not as good as mine would be... biggrin ...definitely will be a cd burner to ride with when I go back to Bush's Sandbox in a couple months.....

Funny, I compiled a top 100 this weekend too, someone asked me what was appropriate for a newbie interested in listening to some Prince stuff. I found it really hard, had to leave some real gems off. Then I realised it was too much, and tried reducing it to 50, but could only manage 60! My list tried to include 1 song from every album, usually the most famous singles or important songs, usually the 12 inch version, and occasionally just my own particular favourites!

Soft & Wet
I Wanna Be Your Lover
When U Were Mine
Head
Controversy
Let's Work
1999
Little Red Corvette
DMSR
Let's Go Crazy
When Doves Cry
Darling Nikki
Erotic City
Purple Rain
Raspberry Beret

so NPS took some kind of priority over TRC? rolleyes

Are u joking...? Muse 2 The Pharoah, mellow and the Rainbow Children itself are tracks that crucify most of the songs on any of his albums?
Luminous beings are we...not this crude matter.
Is this 2morrow or just the END of time?
The Funk will always b with u

Thats a much better list there, but especially for the 90s some of us in far off territories havent been able to listen to albums like Crystal ball, Xpectation, Outtakes etc. When such CDs come in they usually cost about $60 or $70 and are marked as imports from places like Germany and Sweden. My lists look poppy because they are based on records and discs I have been able to buy here and in Melbourne, Australia
