I hate it too, especially the one @ the end. I'm forced to listen to the song now b/c the album is just too short to omit everything that bugs me. But damn, that & "it's loco, right?" in Lolita are just maddening disbelief

I actually love the "it's loco" line. giggle

You know what it reminds me of? On the Rave New Years special when he sits @ the tricked out piano & says, "What a fun party." ill lol It's just so awkward, like he's trying too hard or doesn't know what else to say. I dunno, just doesn't feel comfortable. Sometimes he's the coolest mf on the planet, & sometimes you just wanna hug him & tell him it's gonna be okay comfort lol Prince & goofy shit just don't go together giggle
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

I agree..that part looks really forced.

It's really funny before that, before he got over to the piano when he was holding onto that woman's arms and the lifted him up to crowd surf over to the piano. Omg the look on her face was utterly priceless! It looked like she was on the verge of orgasm or something just by touching him. lol

eek OMG! I liked that too! falloff

His nerdiness is endearing to me. Prince always struck me as a nerdy guy with cool friends (Morris, sheila, etc)

To me, this is a good call by your boyfriend wink Most of the time Prince covers it well. He's only kewl when he has a guitar, motorcycle and a hot girl smile He does NOT seem cool by nature.

He's awkward A LOT! It's like he had a cool alter ego that postured occasionaly and wrote hella kewl songs for Day & The Time.

He was cool in the 80s because being weird and on the fringe was way cool then. It's not now, hence his image crisis ...and his need for lyrics like "it's goin' down y'all.."

What's the history of the fall of the Berlin Wall? I'm horrible when it comes to history.

What where the differences between the east and west berliners?

Germany was divided into West-Germany (USA, England, France) and East-Germany (Soviet Union) after WWII. Berlin is in East-Germany, but since it was the capitol the Allies claimed a part of it. So the western part of Berlin belonged to West-Germany. Like an island in East-Germany. In 1961 the Berlin Wall was built to prevent people from reaching West-Berlin and then being able to flee into the west.
What led to it being torn down is a little more complicated (more and more people fled because communism had basically failed) - anyway, it is amazing to see all the people on it destroying it back then and celebrating. After all, they were all one nation anyway.

they're all EU now, european union?

Nah. It's only corny if you think the Berlin Wall going down is a 80's chestnut with no resonance in our times, and I think that is corny.

It's not the line itself I have a problem with. It's just the way it sounds. It makes me cringe. I can't exactly explain why, I just know I don't like it. It isn't really worth psychoanalyzing or anything. I think it has something to do with the fact that it's "wall of Berlin" instead of "Berlin Wall". "Wall of Berlin"? No one says that. It's NEVER referred to that way. And the fact that I know P has much better "going down" similes than that.

are you saying mad ---> sad like he's losing his teeth or something?

I was going to do some pisstake comment about loving the song despite the lyrics being 16 years out of date but then realised that The Berlin Wall came down when P was...31

More numerology?

Interesting... Man, P is good at choosing clever titles! I don't think we'll ever really know what he means with the numbers and references and if,, then he won't let us know anyway!

...Then you could get a bit more nebulous and suggest that in track 12 there could be a reference to the Vietnamese "boat people" crisis which peaked in 1979 when he was... 21.

Making a neat pairing with the alleged 31 in track 1.

And suggesting some link to the time period betweeen he was 31 and 21 (which is regarded by many to be his most creative period)

And you could also suggest that I get out more and stop listening to conspiracy theorists. (Unless it's a Fibonacci number... LOL)

Its going down... like Monica on Bill?

and then he could tell the following joke:

What is the fluid copacity of Monica Lewinsky's mouth?

One U.S. leader!

Add Morris' "Huh HA!" and you've got yourself a good song!
