I haven't seen much of the stuff before Lovesexy and it's true that the Lovesexy tour did coincide with my turning into a rabid prince fan... but it's also true that lovesexy was a period of inspired spacing out for prince.. alphabet st rocked the summer cities and when he came to london, london fell in love...

but people! the lovesexy programme itself! with the "explanation" of why he didn't release black!! woah!! that was a good piece of work!!

The 'Purple Rain' tour programme was a very high quality product, glossy and with a very sturdy cover with embossed title. The format was very weird, as it was a heck of a lot wider in size than an album, no other tour programme matches this in size. However, as far as photographic content goes I would rate the MOVIE programme as far more interesting and varied, even though it is a lot smaller in size and more likely to get damaged. The movie book features lots of stills from the film, including great photos of the likes of Jill Jones, Apollonia and The Time, as well as a fantastic photo of Prince and Wendy performing 'Computer Blue'. Has anybody still got a good copy of this little gem???

The 'Parade' tour book was also a very respectable presentation tour programme, crammed full of pictures of Prince and The Revolution (poor David Z's face looked like it was buried under tons of foundation to hide those razor bumps on his throat, ouch!)

The 'Sign O' The Times' programme still rates as the best for some, featuring a really comprehensive showcase of the man and his band. It was until then the most visually experimental of the lot, photographed by Jeff Katz. It seems strange that there do NOT seem to be very many pictures of Prince from this period for posterity, and the live S.O.T.T. shots of him do not do him any justice at all.

However, my personal eighties favourite has to be the 'Lovesexy' tour programme, lively and inventive as it is. The costumes worn by Prince and the band were the very best EVER! They combined tight spandex with lots of polka dots as well as the really cool lettering that was a feature of the jackets, paying homage to "Minneapolis", "Lovesexy" and the like. The stage and lighting design were just ace. The hair was also very cool too!

The 'Nude' tour programme was shaping up to be very visually interesting indeed, as it was something of a commemorative issue of the entire Prince career up to then. The retrospective was good and the clear centrespread listing of all the Prince songs performed by other artists up to then was a nice touch. Shame then that the choice of pictures was, at best arbitrary, at worst unimaginative. Terrific shot of Prince strumming his acoustic guitar in that wild red outfit, though. And speaking of red outfits, how tremendous was that pvc creation with the oriental gold lettering he wore on the cover of that???

My favorite program is the 1 4 the Nude tour "Germany", my brother was in the army at that time and saw him in Germany and brought me back a shit load of stuff, T-shirt, poster, and the program, eye luv it cause it has alot of nice colored pictures and it's huge, it's not like ur usual small programs. The best thing of all is the ticket stub from the concert it says everything in german except 4 Prince and it's also big.

lovesexy tour and programme are still the shiznitz. Everything about that tour was just magic. Maybe i get a little nostalgic for that era.

My favs. are the ACT 1 & 2, programes. The first 1, is written in Gold braille on the front cover, with a symbol in braille. There are many cool photos, and inspired comments from celebritys, claimin their opinions of Prince. Act 2 is a programe, is in shape of a gold symbol, with prince in superior playin guitar pose.

Also, I treasure my symbol bracelet, made of sterlin silver.

I actually cried the day I accidentally snapped my 'Controversy' stick-pin, the one shaped like a white cloud guitar, and which I got from Eileen Murton.

Which begs the question: Eileen, where on earth are you???

My favorite tour programme has to be Sign 'O' The Times. I especially like the shot of Eric Leeds with Prince standing in the shadows in the background.

Tiger2: the poster of P in his gold MPLS suit was actually sold on the Nude tour although the picture looks like it was taken during the Lovesexy period.

The circular curtain of pearls that Prince used as a prop, that lowered down over him whilst he sang a trio of make-me-cum ballads, during the Act 1 tour...wasn't sold, but was an unforgettable item at a concert.
