I think after their baby died, things went down hill. Prince started acting really strange (denying the baby had died and making appearances on TV as if nothing had happened). Plus, with all this Jehovas Witness as well, she probably just had enough of him!

The issue is that Prince made Mayte a HUGE part of his persona with whole albums dedicated to her even...
and Emancipation. On top of that all the interviews and videoes and whatnot constantly shoving Mayte
in the public's face when it came to any question about him.

Now she's just gone. And his public is supposed to not notice or question.
