1999 apreciation thread has there ever been one? I love BLACKSWEAT the song... But until recently i never liked 1999... now i realise it's one of the best songs. So 1999, what's the deal? I never knew until now, it's so cool. Luv it . Thanks prince FOREVER>!!! | |

And just to put the album into perspective; there are 4-5 better songs off the record...the song is mediocre in comparison

No shit. Bit it's HOW u finish that counts! Seriously, the song is off the hook; always have been and always will be. When this was released back in 82, it was NOTHING on the radio remotely close to it. U knew it instantly when it started and it jammed hard all the way through. One of P's best singles ever and it was just part of a fantastic album. When P played this live on the 1999 tour, the crowd was soooo loud, it was crazy. It was a totally different time then. It was something to see a 24, 25 year old Prince, totally doing his thing, BEFORE Purple Rain. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."
