the standard for gold aand platinum singles changed in '89.pre '89 it was 2million sold was platinum and 1million was gold,in '89 it changed to the same as lps.....1million was platinum and 500,000 was gold(with 2mill being double platinum and so on).does anyone know how much singles like lil red corvette,1999,or raspberry beret sold....u know the big hits that didnt get a gold or platinum plaque.as it sits it looks like when doves cry is a 2million seller.with kiss,lets go crazy,i wanna be your lover,purple rain as 1 million sellers.he never updated the status of these singles like michael,madonna or janet did.
