I think we need to bombard MTV (emails, phone calls) to make sure prince is the next MTV icon! I couldn't believe it when i first saw the yearly show that Janet Jackson was the first person to receive this honor! Prince deserves it so much more! Help me get him to be at least the 3rd recipient of this award (Aerosmith was the 2nd)!!!

He is a genius and he was one of the first artist to break the color lines on MTV, so he should be granted such award, just for being a huge part of music history for MTV!

Prince will never be an MTV icon.

This is reserved for artists whose videos have somehow shaped MTV and influenced pop culture. Prince's videos really are not that good (some are quite bad), and haven't really been "breakthrough" at all.

Plus, MTV hates Prince (and vice versa).

maddy and mj should get the icon award. vh1 has a show called king of videos! and they dedicated an entire show with details on the musical growth, imagery of madonna and her videos.

Eye agree that Prince should be the next MTV icon, he's been in the music business for a long time and has also written alot of music for other musicians. However, I dont think it will ever happen, we all know that P never gets the props that he deserves.
