Next single: Fury according to Universal Germany

translation: number one in the usa..in germany number 4....next single gonna be Fury...

Seems like the right decision for Europe, wonder if the same will be for the USA though?

Better stick the SNL version on there if he knows what's good for him.

Great song! Reminds me of Annie Christian and Controversy. Doesn't seem like it will be a U.S. second single. Maybe Incense and Candles... boxed

One the NPGmusic club is a photo placed of the same black lady thats in the black sweat video, with flames all around her, Those flames were also projected when Prince performed Fury on Saturday Night Live. That brings me to the conclusion that the video for Fury is allready shot, and that its quite possible that this will be the new single.

Horrible choice, yet again another off mark decision regarding single choice. The studio sound is too organic to grab any casual listeners..

Maybe a good call because of the SNL exposure, but I'm not sure what the market for that song would really be. I love it, but it's one of those Prince songs that everyone loves because it sounds so much like a Prince song... but no "formatted" radio stations know what to do with. It's not Urban, and the Rock stations don't play Prince's rock songs. I think it would get minimal Pop exposure. Then again, I could be completely wrong.

Flame me for it if you want, but "Incense and Candles" is, IMO, the most surefire next single choice, straight to R&B radio. By summertime we'll be ready for "Love" (with hella mixes)... and then I think we'd all love a beautifully done "The Word" video and EP. No?

Fury will die a death if released as a single , I'm sorry , it just will , its ok but theres better , more lively and engagging songs off 3121 that are crying out for single releases , hopefully after Fury comes and go then Lolita or Love will grace radio for a bit .

What you fail to recognize is that "Fury" caused a stir unlike any other Prince song for at least a decade, even among non-fans. That SNL performance was positively electric, and folks on message boards not related to Prince at all were buzzing about it. As a result, "Fury" seems like the best choice for a single as through word of mouth and the SNL performance, it already has endeared itself to non-fans.

I agree. I love Fury.

And it should be accompanied with a video of him in a rock concert with people in the audience banging heads to the guitar and err' thing. nod

What You fail to realize is that the studio version is nothing like the "live" version which benefited from an amazing performance. If he were to re-record this track w/ a band for a "fuller" sound then maybe but as the track stands now it's a statue compared to the SNL version.

The studio version is fine as as, although I definitely think a rockier version may be in order. nod I don't know the logistics of Prince getting the rights to the SNL performance, but it is something he may want to explore for the video, etc.

Let's just hope Prince does an extended rework of it with a heavier guitar mix. Plus, let's loose that "1999" redux keyboard riff while we're at it.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Poor decision.
Great song but not for radio.
Lolita is the only shot for a radio hit from 3121.
All momentum will be lost with this single.

I love Fury, but honestly i don't think that or anything else on the album will be a hit. he just doesn't fit into the singles market anymore so unless he gets some wack ass rapper to guest on the single version of something like most of the hits these days, i think those days are long in the past

Now i would love it if i was wrong, but I don't think its going to happen
