The site is very slow today. May not get another update until tomorrow.

As long as P stomps Manilow I'll be happy.

I fear he will fall out of the top 10. All Prince fans bought the album, and there is no single that forces a wider audience to buy the album...

at 35% he's only sold 15,000, a massive drop, he might not make top twenty if things dont improve. Very worrying!

Keep in mind that TI's album is only in 3rd place at 53,000 while it will clearly be the number one album. More metropolitan markets (where Prince does better) are added later on Tuesday. I expect Prince will be near in the 80-100k range when all is said and done and will land somewhere between 7 and 10.

why would it worry you where Prince charts?

I guess I don't understand the emotional involvement some fans have in Prince. my interest lies in whether the music is good and it entertains me. whether anyone else likes it, or is interested in his music, which would be reflected by sales, doesn't concern me one bit. those are/should be Princes concerns.

I guess my question is, why do you have an emotional attachment to or need for Prince's success? does it make you feel validated for being a fan? if so, why do you need validation? why can't you just enjoy him/his music regardless of whether anyone else does or not.
this message brought to you by logic.

well usually i dont bother, i was never bothered that the rainbow children failed to chart etc. That cd is my personal fav. However, when an artist makes a clear attempt at commercial success with a great pop cd as prince has done with 3121, it wouldnt be very good if it completely dropped out of the charts.

3121 deserves good sales figures because its a good cd, and better than most of the other crap out there. Thats why sales figures are important because i like to see great cd's sell well and not so great ones not so well.

Last week this time we were all thinking the album wasn't going to hit the projected 200 K because a lot of the numbers didn't come until late. It looked like Manilow or the High School CD was going to kick the man's ass but that didn't come to pass. I still project 80-100K, bring the CD close to 300K.

Prince is closely watching 1 st & 2nd week
sales to decipher the promotion.

I think he will shift gears closer to Tamar's release.

There's reasons why there's no TV promotion at the moment.

Does this drop really amaze you all?

both Singles tanked. Granted Black Sweat got some video play.

And Yes critics for the most part like it,

BUT the general public arent Prince fans.
