Baby, you're a trip

I'm really digging this song lately! The Prince version. I haven't heard the Jill Jones version yet...I still have to find her CD....the song is pretty quirky and I love that! It kinda describes how I feel about Prince. boxed

Jill manages a version comparable. She rocks.
Its a cracker of a song.and the lyrics are'nt too far removed the odd incidental wibbling.

a doodle doo yoo hoo!

All day all night, is also a good version, but misses the desperation and rawness of the prince one .

It's the first modern "Prince sex-ballad" that he did, imo. In a way, you can hear a slight (but just slight) hint of "Scandalous" or "Insatiable" on it and it serves as a very early blueprint for stuff like "One Kiss At A Time" (of course if you ask me, "Baby, You're A Trip" is a lot better... but that's a different story). His other earlier R&B ballads, like "International Lover" or "When We're Dancing Close And Slow" are completely different in nature, and if you buy into the story that it was actually Andre Cymone who wrote "Do Me, Baby" then that wouldn't count either.

Oh it's a bootleg. boxed( I know I'm naughty) It's kinda a slow song but it doesn't have a sad feel to it like the Dance...it's very happy sounding.

I love the lyrics...

"I know what people say
They say you don't know how to love
but I want you anwyay
You're like a drug and I can't get enough.....

....I know what people think
They think I'm a star struck little fool
but baby you could be flat broke
I'd still be crazy for you"

Oh Princey...how'd you know that is how I felt about you? batting eyes

Great song. This led to look into other songs with "Baby" in the title. Seems as if people here love to make playlist so here's one.

Baby, Ur A Trip
She's Just A Baby
Rock Me Baby
Baby, Baby, Baby
Baby Go Go
Do Me, Baby
Baby I'm A Star
Sweet Baby
Baby
Baby Knows

Crazy. We need more songs with Baby!

Nouveau, I know you love your associated artists, so do these songs come from one of them?

My Baby Knows How 2 Love Me
Baby Don't Care

I know The Time's "Oh, Baby" but where are the other two from?

Jill Jones version of this song is one of the best tracks on her debut cd, sung very powerfull and expressive, and with the orchestra, arranged by clare fischer, letting 'loose'.

It makes me think its a damn shame her album has never been released on cd, probably the best female Prince protegee in my opinion, not some dancing 'sexdoll', but a gutsy singer combining an expressive voice with a sort of feministic touch in her attitude and lyrics (meant in a positive way).

The arrangements on her album are among the finest Prince has ever produced: i really dig those drummachine / orchestra hybrid used on tracks like Mia Bocca and Violet Blue. Visionary also, years later Massive attack and Bjork started releasing music combining electronic beats with strings.

I have that. Ill have to listen to it later.
That reminds me, her rendition of Brick House had me cracking up, "She's mighty Mayte". I love her to death, but it sounded like she was trying entirely too hard with that one. I was laying down listening to it for the first time and almost fell off my bed laughing.

evillol I know. She reminds me of a teenage girl who notices she is getting boobies and a booty and is staring at herself in the mirror like "oh yeah!" lol It's funny!

It was. I have it. Actually - my uncle has it, but he hasn't noticed it disappeared three years ago from his record shelf.
