PLUS one of the main reasons it sold THAT many is that so many of you bought multiple copies!! You were hoping you'd grab this Purple Ticket thing but you should've KNOWN that there wouldn't be any in the first 200 to 300,000 copies of "3121". I mean c'mon that would end this shameless gimmick way too soon and stop the fantatics from buying superfluous copies of the disc! Similar to how Michael jackson fans bought 5 copies of "Invincible" becuase it had different color covers! Puh-lease!

to run the promotion in the manner you suggest it's being run would be illegal.
Not that record companies don't do illegal things, like payola..
but I dispute your thoughts, that there are no purple tickets in the first 200,000 copies sold so far..someone may have it, but not be a member of this org

I only bought one copy of 3121.

Look...If you have any sense of business you will do what ever it takes to make sure your product is #1. Janet or Michael will have huge million dollar videos, Madonna will kiss Brittany and etc. but if the album is wack it won't sell. 3121 sold 184,000 and it's number 1 and that’s it. I have been a die hard since '83 and I only bought one copy and I am sure a lot people did the same. Maybe people are interested in the album for the quality of the music not just the purple ticket. I find it so funny that people will find any reason to hate on Prince, just be happy that the boy is #1 again. How dumb do people sound when they say, "I’m not hating," what are you doing? Would it have been better if he sold it for $15.99, no promotion and no purple ticket? Then it would have said "Prince can't market anything right" and "he is so dumb for selling the album that high."

No beef - not directed at anyone - just my opinion
