Best intro to a Prince song?

After much deliberation, I have to go with:

"Don't hate me coz I'm beautiful"
- Prettyman

Only because it makes me LMAO! lol

I also love the Let's Go Crazy intro. Classic.

When Doves Cry!! They have to remaster that - the guitar and Prince's weird groaning wow! the first 40 seconds or so are the best intro to any single I can think of!!

I am currently experiencing the 83 First Avenue concert over and voer again and the live intro of that version is amazing.

Just that beat, then Prince announcing the song; "This song is called Computer Blue"

Remember; the studio version was not released until 84 and this was it's FIRST live outing. Amazing. Gives me goose bumps again and again

I also love the intro to Sexual Suicide. That scream, that beat; mushy

december

don't ask why but I have always liked the beginning of 'the morning papers' and 'last december'
(Little Richard enters the stage)
Homer: Purple Rain!!
Little Richard: Shut up!
Homer (to Marge): Oh my God, Michael Jackson just told me to shut up!

When doves cry is my favourite.

Worst intro to the greatest song ever has to be The Beautiful ones. The first 5 seconds.

- Oh yeah!! I remember that, even when I hated Prince and his music back in the 80s, I would always stop whatever I was doing to listen to this one on the radio. Fantastic guitar work and moaning. The solos are great also.

Aw, hell no! That synth-y gurgling intro is awesome. It's there so when the keyboards kick in they really wake you up. It's like a shot of adrenaline.

And the wholde Parade album is filled with great intros, they are often statements in themselves.

One intro that I am still digging:

"1+1+1=3"

Very moody, eerie, stuff going on (even the "Darth Vader" voice adds to it), then the drum slowly and quietly kicks in, and then comes that killer, wicked bass line. A fantastic intro that just creeps up on you and before you know it you are grabbed.

The "1+1+1=3" intro really reminds me so much of The Doors' "The End."
