Anyone else surprised 3121 is still not available on iTunes??

I don't know what's up with that. He'd sell more copies if he did. The Black Sweat/BLB single hit #1. I guess he wants people to get 3121 at the wrecka stow...

I've already downloaded my copy to iTunes anyway so it doesn't matter. But millions of people buy albums from iTunes now because of convenience, it would definitely be to his benefit if it becomes available there.

I have no doubt that it will but I would guess the plan is to let physical CD sales carry the album for a bit, then when those start to drop they can deliver through iTunes to carry the album in the charts a bit longer.

That or the album will be released on iTunes with bonus stuff at a later time so we'll buy it there as well; you know how we're suckers for anything Prince.

If he doesn't have the number one album next week, he should know why. I'm sure all other contenders are available there and at other services.

I'm definitely holding out for iTunes. I haven't bought a physical CD since Musicology, and that one was handed to me at the concert. Why BUY the physical CD if I'm gong to immediately load it onto my PC, ipod, etc? makes no sense.

So, I bet when it does go to iTunes, sales will go back up. Maybe. I still wanna preview all the trax. The review thread has me worried.

well, unless the iTunes copy has a bonus track, he cost himself at least one sale by not putting it on iTunes. I would have bought it on iTunes the morning it was released and then bought the CD the next time I was out shopping. Instead I had to make a special trip to get the CD, and have already loaded it into my iTunes.

its all part of the marketing campaign with Universal...they know what they are doing...don't seat it. There are going to be people hear very very suprised when those sales numbers come out in a week...and thats without iTunes or Black Sweat getting a lot of airplay

May ntoe be about Prince but put two and two together and it'll answer the question in some way or another...

S.O.S. - WHERE'S THE (i)TUNES?

Hi Keith,

What's the deal with Rihanna's "SOS?" It's doing pretty well on the Billboard Hot 100, but as of this writing it's not available for download at the Apple iTunes Music Store. I would think the sales could really boost the song's [chart] performance. Any idea when it might be available? And is "SOS" the lead single from a new Rihanna album? It's not on her debut set "Music of the Sun" (which was released last year).

Thanks,

Mark Blankenship
Brooklyn, N.Y.

Hi Mark,

"SOS" is not available at the Apple iTunes Music Store, likely following in the footsteps of other songs like Ne-Yo's "So Sick" and LL Cool J's "Control Myself." In Ne-Yo's case, "So Sick" was withheld from iTunes because his label, Def Jam, wanted to encourage consumers to buy the album once it came out -- instead of only buying a 99-cent track. LL and Rihanna are also Def Jam artists.

"SOS" is the first single from Rihanna's second album, "A Girl Like Me," due April 25 via Def Jam. The song, which rises 46-44 on the Billboard Hot 100 dated March 25, samples the classic 1980s song "Tainted Love" by Soft Cell.

Rihanna's 2005 debut, "Music of the Sun," debuted and peaked at No. 10 on The Billboard 200. It has sold 416,000 in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Why not sell it on iTunes where you can only buy the album and not available for single selections?

I think its pure marketing.

Universal/prince think it would go a least top 5 without an itunes release.

when the cd sales starts to slow down, they will release it on itunes to stay on the top..

well thats my thoughts, and it make sense to me LOL
