Prince does a "back in the day soul sound" on "Satisfied"... Soul music: a brief definition:
1. Soul music is a combination of rhythm and blues and gospel. 2. Soul music also combines blues and jazz, while often playing saxophones built upon the blues tradition. 3. Soul music is differentiated by its use of gospel-music devices, its greater emphasis on vocalists, and its merging of religious and secular themes. A true rendition of the sound of "soul music" can be found on track number 7 on the 3121 cd. In this track, Prince takes us back to the roots of soul music with his sexilicious vocals in 3121's track titled "satisfied". His creative expression in this song is a total ( re-)introduction for today's Prince fans by letting them experience the sounds and the heart of "soul music". Prince takes us into the depths of his passionate, soul stirring and bluesy call to his lover about his wanting to get her into a state of being completely "satisfied". Wherever Aretha Franklin was (or is) when she first heard this song. I'm sure it took her back to the song "Dr. Feelgood". In one of the lines of her song she tells her friends. "now I don't mind company, because company's alright with me every once in awhile, but oh, when me an that man get to lovin? I tell ya girl, I dig ya, but I don't have time to sit, and chit, and sit and chit - chat an smile". On the same level.. Prince opens up the "satisfied" track with, "be4 we get started, r we all alone", cause i'm about to get opened. It's time 2 send ur company home and turn off ur cellphone". Both songs are right to the point... about feeling good and feeling satisfied... Prince does a great tribute to "soul music" in "satisfied". His vocals are clear , smooth and totally honest. After I heard it (musically speaking), I was "satisfied". how it goes is how it is...how it is is how it goes.. i love you for who you are, not the one u feel u need to be.
