Last night, Gangsta came over for a very long awaited Prince listening party. This one was oh, so special! He brought discs and vinyl of extended versions and B~Sides, many of which I had never heard. The Ride and God were highlights but there wasn't a single cut I didn't completely love. He will have to provide the "set list" for the evening ~ I was in a such a daze over these brilliant masterpieces and lost track of what he was playing. Thank you Gangsta and to Prince!!!!!

I'm so glad you were up for it. This has been a long time coming, and I've wanted to bust out my entire Prince collection with you for a good 10 years now. There's nothing quite like looking through old vinyl - the inside sleeves, studying the larger artwork, the labels...all the little clues that made Prince's work so fascinating. Getting "3121" and especially "Ultimate Prince" has me whipped up into a Prince frenzy. Sadly, it seems those don't come along as often as they used to when I was just a wide-eyed kid. But something about those extended mixes and B-Sides takes me right back to when I first became a fan of Prince, and a collector and lover of music in general. There aren't many things in this world that can make me more nostalgic and reflective and yet so excited and spazzed out at the same time. I Prince too.

Maybe I'll start discussing that 100 disc project here.
