I think you're right. The song is incredible funky, but when you listen to the vocals they sound like they come from a weird psycho! ...and I really could do without that stupid "this is for-fucking part".

loosekiss said: How is Starfish & Coffee dark and edgy? Maybe I'm missing something here. Please explain. Cynthia Rose knows. Think Columbine. (Actually, I think the song is very positive, but I can see the other extreme as well. Poor Cynthia. At least she knew how to look on the bright side with her alternative views).

Now, 'This is for part' is the FUNNIEST part about the song and I also agree that the song have a dark/edgy side. The drums, the synthsizers and the moody singing are the reasons,,,

I haven't heard any outtakes, so I'll have to go with what I've heard...
The darkest song, to me, is "Wasted Kisses". What an ugly song. At the old org, many thought that this song was about the birth and death of his child. I can understand why it would be written and I can also understand all the emotion in it, but MY GOD...it is ugly because he MAKES you FEEL his PAIN!! Would love to hear the others but alas... Yeah, and also 'The Voice', even though it's not a full Prince composition. I thought I'd mention it since Organgrinder suggested 'Cookie Jar' (a cover of a song by Parlet). I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the track 'Sonny T', off the unreleased 'Madhouse 24'. Man, the whole shebang Prince got going on 'Sonny T', with all those screams and weird quivering organ in the background gives me the creeps everytime I hear it... . "You don't frighten us, English pig dogs. Go and boil your bottoms, sons of a silly person."

Darkest? Edgiest? Well, Papa because of the Lyrics. BoB George from the Black album and the whole vibe was kinda strange on Come and the Black album, yet I love those albums. There are other songs with significant lyrics. Old Friend's For Sale, Others Here with Us, Undertaker.
