I always like it when he yells at Bonnie Boyer on Le Grind.

It's not good.

But because, as others have said, it's mythical ...so continues the legend.

I only like Cindy C and When 2 R in Love, and since the latter made it to Lovesexy.... I don't have much inspiration to listen to this album.

To me Black Album is just a collection of Prince jokes that are fun ..but I don't put it on when I looking for a real musical high...

woah! I was mildly interested and respectful of Prince till I heard the black album in '88, something about Le Grind and Bob George just addicted me, I think that he hit on such an original and fierce musical/soundscape design.... much better for me than Lovesexy.

How can you compare The Black Album to Sign O The Times? Are you crazy.....Even Prince asked people not to buy the Black Album. I think it was for a reason. It is a great collectors item...but seriously.....not a great album....

Sign O The Times was one of the best albums of the 80's period.

I can't get enough of Le Grind. It is such a cool monster party song.

hmmm Le Grind vs It? Le Grind
Le Grind vs Play in the Sunshine? Le Grind
Le Grind vs Beautiful Night? Le Grind
Le Grind vs Hot Thing? Le Grind

Bob George vs Sign o The Times? I've listen to Bob Gearge way more, its textures are way more interesting.

Black Album is way more interesting in it's mix of sounds... Housequake should have been on Black Album.

Are you nuts! 4 Nigs is the highlight of the album. Funkiest thing the man ever did.

Great Album. I'm lucky to have gotten it brand new from my record store. Hard to find. Anyway, I'm glad that this record got shelved because we got Lovesexy, which is,IMO one of Prince's greatest albums ever. There aren't any bad songs on this album. Although I do think When 2 R In Love should have been left off. It fits much better on Lovesexy.

Definately one of my favorite albums by P. To me, as an album, I wished he would have released this instead of LoveSexy. I hardly ever played LoveSexy all the way through where as I bump the shit out of The Black Album. Bob George is one of the HARDEST things to ever see daylight by ANY artist. P puts a lot of these so called hard rappers to shame on this cut, cuz P's not fronting. P shows on this song that he's ALWAYS been crazy and to not be left alone in a room with.

Agreed, Lovesexy is unbelievably over rated. I would love to have seen if he would have went on a funkier trajectory if he had released the black album.

Probably not. But one can daydream.

Yeah I dont get the FAM hysteria for Lovesexy, it was okay at the time, but didnt really move me. Which is odd cause at the time i was like a Prince Geek, Id skip class to go buy a remix, (had to take that Lit. class twice.)

To me it was the start of the "religious" P. Which is fine and dandy for him, but for me it was sad to see the dirty mind go.

Maybe thats why ive come to love The Black Album.

If u do 2 much, your skin will be sensitive 2 touch
The first person that touches u, u want 2 fuck
U take them 2 your crib and u tie them 2 a chair
Then u make funny faces til they get really scared
Then u turn on the neon, then u play with yourself
Til u turn them on

The lyrics on this album cant be touched !

A whiz at math and all that shit
But I'm, I'm a tad more interested
in flyin' your kite tonigh...

The lyrics rule. The album is just hands down great. And Le Grind is the funkiest mother of them all.
I'm testing postive 4 the funk
