I'm setting the bar for 200,000 its first week, because alot of die hards are planning on buying multiple copies for the purple ticket campaign, not to mention alot of casual fans and new fans will buy the cd based on the first 3 singles (from video and radio play).
So I'm sure Prince will debut at #1!

3121 Rocks!!!

im going with the fact that there was much more buzz factor and a big tour going on when Musicology came out and it scaned 177,000 in week 1

i'm going under. the first three singles are not enough to push the casual listener to buy.

I'd definitely say a bit over. Somewhere in the 200,000 units league sounds good.

That's a good place to put the bar. I'd say it would be slightly under for the reasons Sassy mentions.

I will have the official projections for 3121 early wed morning. These will be very close to the real sales. These projections r very accurate
musicology did 177k first week

reasons for more
-----
more buzz with this album
purple tickets
alot of ppl already had the cd due to concerts b4 the release(400k which was never counted))
npgmc downloads were done b4 the album came out( i dont think these were ever counted)
much better product
universal did a better job then sony

reason for less
-----
musicology tour had already started so there was already a buzz around
prince is older
grammy performance

lacking so far
-----
he hasnt done any shows :leno ellen oprah today show gma stern letterman

fans need to do
-----

spread the word of how great this album is
i have been mosting on madonna mj and other forums with links to the snl performance

Is it me or is his album not available on Itunes? i checked and it's not there.
If it doesn't show up there, he's just killed a lot of potential sales and a possible debut at #1

Not sure about him going to number one (some rapper also has a new releases out...not sure who he is but that never stops no name rappers from hitting number one). I think 200K is a likely number but baring a miracle (or at least Prince going on some shows and doing some promotion) I don't see it selling a million copies, though.

I think it will come very close to 200,000. I'm hoping it goes over that, but I'm thinking it will be around 190,000.
