Favorite 'mindblowing' Prince tracks?

I know, 3121 is out, its a nice conscise 'funkpoppy' effort, nothing more, nothing less..... but i am looking back to his backcatalogue for some of the most mindblowing tracks of Prince.

I mean, those kind of ecstatic tracks, that make your eyes pop, your head spin, you jaw drop open, leaving you behind in well..awe....sorta.

My top 3 (in no particular order):

Lovesexy:
The busy, but very groovy arrangement, the interweaving harmonies, the several horn / wind-up vocal climaxes in the song... the mixture of funk-, gospel, dance- and rock-elements... A total, knock off, still knowadays.

Mountains (extended version):
The first part is familiair: the song on parade, with some extra rhytmical 'stomp', that rhytmical stomp 'carries' the exciting funk-jam that forms the reminder of this track, slowly building up, putting extra instruments in the mix (aking much to the best of Sly Stones material), creating a tension and energy released in the full out final with futuristic sounding synths.. One of the most exciting 10 minutes of music released in popular music.

Mia Bocca:
Maybe my personal favorite. Not song by Prince off course, but by Jill Jones, but very obviously a Prince track in all means. The way the orchestra combines with the rude, bare, electronic beat is amazing, the way this song builts up also is: an orchestral intro, the beats coming in, giving way to what sounds like a electrofunksong, but then the orchestra comes in (strings first, woodwinds later), getting more and more prominent, Jill Jones vocals get more expressive, avantgarde almost (in a Nina Hagen kind of way), then theres comes the magic of a few repeated drummachine notes, and the orchestra which kicks in fully (horns on the top) and the beat goes almost bezerk... the song ends with a jazzy horn motif, and synthetic strings... 10 out of 10

I am curius about your Prince-deliverd 'mind-fucks'

Beatiful ones. The only ballad I know of that orgasms with angry ultimatums.

She's Always in my Hair. It's just pretty and sweet. I like pretty and sweet.

In this Bed I Scream. His most intimate lyrics ever, I think. And it's got a groove.

Oh, and Pink Cashmere, Beautiful Strange, Cream, Last December, a bunch.

Fury on SNL - I watched it over and over
The Holy River - Made me cry (well, tear up a little)
Vavoom - Love the rock, and it gets better every time I hear it
Automatic - First time I was blown away by Prince. I was listening to it through headphones, and I couldn't believe all the stuff going on musically. I still remember thinking, "Damn! This guy is the black Sprinsteen!"
Let's Have a Baby - Because we all knew the tragic ending when the song came out. I can't listen to it any more; neither can my wife

as far as "mind f****" go.here's mine:

1(Daisy Chain...especially that part where he says "make yo hips vibrate..my mind is zonin' on that one".goodness THAT WHOLE BEAT...if that song is EVER released as a instrumental... eek

2)We Can Funk (Revolution Version) on this version (which is REALLY cleaned up)you can hear his vocals splendidly.this is a headphone experience.you know you have an excellent recording when it sounds as though the person is right in the room with you.

3)G-Spot.the beat.the lyrics...need i say more?

4)Data Bank(Revolution Version)..7 minutes and 49 seconds of sheer bliss.

Lol. I love that track. It spurred me to create some nice new tracks. There are not that many songs that spur my creativity.
