i think he just called prince unintelligent...

i received this message from a certain orgster... when i tried to reply, i was told that he had blocked messages from me.

nonw i don't believe i have ever addressed this person in my entire life... so i find this bizarre, not to mention wimpy. anyway, here is what he said:

"you only agree because it is in your best interest as a follower of said religion to do so. you justify your behavior because accepting the truth causes pain in your mind. it is easier to remain ignorant, to believe that swear words are evil, to believe that sex is wrong, to repress what your body tells you about the world because you believe your body is of the earth and therefore will only lead you to sin and the devil. that is the path of least resistance, that is the path of ignorance. JW gives you a nice little box to which all things can fit, but unfortunalty you can't convert the intelligent (sorry P, but it's true) because we've come out of the cave, we know that your little box doesn't solve any problems, it only creates more. "the accepted version if western society" is repressive right winged missonaries and christians who claim to be doing the lords work as they steal resources from brown people across the globe because they have guns and those people do not. western culure is "manifest destiny" and that is what P is buying into. therefore, he used to be counter culture and now he is not.

and 'me so horny' is not stock obscenities. luke and the boys had some hardcore creative obscenities!"

just wanted to apologize to you, mr. charles taze russell, for apparently having caused you pain by expressing my own simple, personal and heartfelt opinions. if you don't like 'em, well... that's kinda how it is in the world sometimes. we can't all agree and i don't know why this should unduly disturb you. especially in a public forum.

To write such a message, he should've been prepared to see any criticism or answers you had to give, rather than block you.

Well, I don't agree with a single word that that person wrote to you. I think he is the one who is ignorant because he is not willing to hold himself accountable for anything that he does. He leaves you that message, and tries to get the last word. I think that is pretty pathetic. Obviously he only knows what he has been told and has never taken the time to learn more thoroughly. He/She doesn't even know what they are talking about. They are following what the mass tells them to follow. This person has accepted the version of what people have told him and he is as brainwashed as they come. That is the trend today. Religion is bad; people are good. Religion is what causes people to do the studity and horror in the world. That's right blame religion for all your weaknesses and call yourself God. So Sad...I mean people are going to continue to blame religion for all the terrible things happening in the world. Any true Christian would not take advantage of a person and would not do horrible things in the name of God. People don't realize that there are bad apples out there who call themselves christians. That is not what Jesus taught us. This person is ignorant and just wants to have fun without the consequences. Ignore them, because it's not worth waisting your time on someone like this.

It is not a surprise that most comments that are negative about christianty are made by ignorant people. They have not taken the time to study the religion to understand that no Christian person would use their ability to witness as a means to manipulate people.

It's just a shame that in a community such as this there is so much in fighting.
It's a cliche at this point to say "can't we all just get along?" but can't we?
We're here with a common interest and we should try to focus on what we have in common rather that our disagreements.
Besides that it's the internet. You don't really know anyone here, and certainly not enough to wast the energy it takes to "hate" or argue.

no you're right. it is the founders and persons of power in your church who control and manipulate you. you are left weak and powerless to help yourself because of your fear of hell, and because they tell you about all the "evil" that exists in the world.

No, in fact my life is not deprived at all. I'm actually paying closer attention to my body and soul by denying what's bad for me. I'm filled with more love than I ever have before. By wishing someone else to die is another sad, sad projection of your ignorance. I feel sorry for you. So, you can have your cheap sex and your beer and your drugs, and temporary thrills but I have something that is everlasting and true, I have God. You have yourself. Good luck with that...

Saying "I feel sorry for you" is a pretty self-righteous thing to do... I know that you probably feel passionately about your views and I am sure that the object of your pity feels the same way about his/her views as well, therefore saying "I feel sorry for you" is a judgment call that should not be made.

I always frown when anyone from any conviction or persuasion starts throwing accusations of ignorance and stupidity. Obviously, this issue is not very cut and dry, and even people who believe God created the universe in seven days still call it a mystery. If it's a mystery, then there is a great deal that is unknown and that no one can be sure about, thus the futility of speaking of "ignorance" in such matters.

What I am trying to understand is how people KNOW who is right and WHO is wrong, only God can do that. Now you tell people to die early and in pain just because they do not agree with your behavior or words? Who the H-E-LL do you think you are?

Man you ain't nothin' but a chicken, you still could have at least wrote her back through org note, then this could have been a personal thang! I agree with ian though, about the part "Can we all go back to living our lives now?" wait...hmmm dang! If we did that we would not visit the org so often! smile

People say worse than that to the JW's around here man, give sign a break. Besides I also think telling someone they are self-righteous is very critial and insulting, so in this case I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Saying that someone is acting in a self-righteous manner is not the same thing as saying the you feel sorry for someone. One who acts self-righteous pretends to have all the divine answers and must pity those who don't agree.

self-right·eous (slfrchs)
adj.
Piously sure of one's own righteousness; moralistic.
Exhibiting pious self-assurance: self-righteous remarks.

Pitying someone implies that you are above them spiritually, intellectually or otherwise.

Saying that someone is acting in a self-righteous manner because they said that they pity someone is simply observation and not judgment. There is a difference.

So... yes, the apple DOES fall far from the tree.

and saying "i pity you" becuz the person in question seems, well, rather bitter and unhappy... could not possibly be simply the expression of a sentiment and not a self-righteous judgment call???

this could not possibly be qualified as an observation on someone's part? or are you saying that only your observations are not subjective???

Hmmm, provacative...

Maybe that was the way it was meant... possibly... if so, I still don't think that it is cool to "pity" people. I agree with saying "you are bitter" or something like that, but you are necessarily saying that you believe yourself to be better that someone when you say that you pity them.

Ok, so this is another judgment call... uncool to pity people, fine.

i personally reserve my pity for only the saddest of cases. sometimes there's nothing more you can do for people BUT pity them. i don't really pity this CT russell guy. there's maybe one or two people i know personally that i do pity 'cause i've seen them create problem after problem for themselves, thanks to their own personal choices... but we're talking about drug addicts or mentally ill people who won't seek help...

Okay, you have a fine point there... maybe it is okay in certain cases, but certainly not in cases of dissenting viewpoints. I agree with you on your pitying troubled people who cannot seem to help themselves and let their entire lives spiral out of control, hurting themselves and others in the process.

Have to say I agree with most things the offender said. And I am not ignorant - I was raised as a christian and participated actively in my local church for many years. Then I came to a realisation that it was nonsense. I have since studied religion in depth, even going to live in an islamic country to find out about it. And I still think they are all nonsense - interesting, but nonsense. Buddha was pretty cool though, along with Jesus. Just a shame thte latter didn't leave a more positive legacy.

But... he/she was a bit of a dick in blocking u.
