Oh yeah< i forgot, you guys are esoteric elitists with an informed sense of what music should be like. You have an ear for the deeper things . . . . trust me, I listened. I listened to the dumb CD maybe a dozen times. It flat out sucks, only surpassing Musicology in its staying power. You guys are so starved for new material after two years that you find aesthetic value in Prince's farts.

When shit gets released from the vault, you will see how much this stuff sucks in juxtaposition. But it wont happen so stay clinging to your grim hope.

Why are you on this site when its clear you just want to be hateful - nasty - and wind everyone up? Do you get off on this?? We are all entitled to our opinion but you seem to have an unhealthy anger for the guy?

Right on, I wholeheartedy agree. I am so glad I only downloaded this shit. If I bought it, I'd a been pissed off at the little pimply purple fuck . . . . dont you all know the motherlode of superior jams exusts in his little vault?

This shit isnt worthy of an American Idol dropout . . .

Let me recap:

3121 - good for a repeated listen
Lolita good for a repeated listen until the stupid call out sections
TAC - skip
Black Sweat - skip
Incense and whatever - skip
Love - skip
Satisfied - good for a listen cuz its short
Fury - skip
BL&B - its ok, but I dont think its worthy of him, yet its typical to throw in some mediocrity to usher in street cred
The Dance - good for a repeated Listen
I forgot the last song, but horns are too Vegas-like cheesy so I never finished it again after the first listen

Thanks Prince, you are now an official has-been only good for the concert stage, but then again, i dont need to listen to your greatest hits again and again. And I dont need the site of overweight middle-agers dancing to your medleys.

Weren't you one of the people praising this album after it leaked? I could've sworn I saw a post with your name saying that you liked it. Well whatever you said, it's easy to say that there will be extra room in that arena for another person who is willing to hear what Prince is going to do with these songs live since you won't be there woot! Better to have someone there who'd appreciate it than someone who won't. biggrin

I don't mind anyone saying they don't like something but it is far more helpful when they at least attempt to justify or vocalise their reasons. Popping your head around the door just to say it's 'shit' is unhelpful and bound to cause some people to resent your comments.

You say you listened to the CD 12 times but previously you said you couldn't get through the last track more than once, so at the very least you haven't heard the 'entire' album 12 times.

It's pretty ridiculous to compare this album to an imaginary 'vault' album which doesn't exist, and which even you go onto say won't ever exist anyway! It sounds like it is YOU who are clinging to a grim hope - of a vault album full of only superb tracks. The vault is full of great tracks and poor tracks relative to an individuals tastes and any such album would be favoured by some but disliked by others just like any Prince album, legendary status of the tracks or not.

Moreover, there is no mention whatsoever of "The Word". After 12 spins, you'd think there would at least be a concession that the album has 12 songs...

Why dont you go and vent out this creepy anger you seem to be displaying on another site?

Your taking this way too seriously - this is an album thats being discussed here - Not world poverty or the United Nations..

One mans waste is another mans treasure - this album is not going to appeal to everyone - particularly you it seems...

I think maybe its time you deleted your account with this site and moved on - we've obviously got nothing to offer you here....

well spotted , so whats its to be mapaul , is 3121 poor or do you stick by your
original review of most of it as being "a huge leap from the sterile boredom of Musicology ". Either youre very confused or an imbecile , most of us have decided on the latter .....

Yep...I read it...Farber didn't quite like the technical aspects of the production...And that's cool....But as a whole, mostly all of the reviews I've read so for for the midget have been quite positive, with some negative ratings...To tell the truth, a Prince album just wouldn't be a Prince album with disagreements....lol

Be honest though: when you try some new work by somebody (Prince for example) do you really never look back and compare it to their earlier output in any way?

the first time i listen to something i'm usually too busy listening to that something to be off comparing it to something else.

basically, the first time i hear something there are a few impressions i can choose from: bad, not so bad/not so great, ok, good, fantastic. after the first few listens, sure, i compare. but its not the comparison that makes a record good or bad, its the music contained therein. before i'm comparing things, i've already decided what i think about the work.

it is a little less than annoying when a critic gets these things confused. after all, he or she is supposed to be a professional. lol

The usual suspects - lubricious funk jams, falsetto slowies, jazz excoursions, nods to God - are all here.

I've only listened to the album a few times, but sadly, I agree with the review. This is yet another damp squib of an album. And there was me thinking that he couldnt release anything as average as Rave, he tops himself with this. Two or three good tracks dont make an album. Its over for Prince as far as I'm concerned. To me, this album is the final nail in the coffin. Prince has finally dropped to the ranks of mediocrity. Let me know when he comes back please...

If U don't think it's worth getting an album for 2 or 3 great songs then you shouldn't be here at all.
