Do you think Prince would have prince tattooed on his body?

As I stated last time this subject was addressed (about 3 months ago) Prince does have a prince tattoo. Its just over his right ear but its the old symbol without the horn.

I have a photo of it somewhere and I'll try to dig it out, for any doubter's out there.

I just saw the Prince tattoo thread.

Recently at the One Nite Alone concert in Detroit, Prince brought a woman onstage (a woman that had proudly displayed her prince tattoo to him) and proceeded to open the Bible and read a passage to her. She was escorted backstage, Bible in hand.

The exact passage was Leviticus 19:28 . . . "Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD."

So for all you with tattoos, I wondered what your opinion of this Bible reference is.

(Seems like old P. doesn't approve, and doesn't reward them with closer seats or camera time anymore.)

I'm wondering what happened backstage.

Yeah, this is tacky. You don't tear people down in God; you build them up. You don't ostracize/humiliate them in front of a crowd -- that's not a big turn-on and it's not going to help further any liking in what your promoting. Prince needs to be smarter than this. You have to be clever.

It reminds me of a preacher who stood on the corner as students walked by at my University years ago, yelling they're all going to Hell, etc. This isn't exactly great marketing. It comes across as preachy, arrogant, etc. and of course, he got nothing but a bunch of people pissed off and yelling back at him.

As a Christian, I've never heard anything about tattoos. Some of the Old Testament's teachings were attributed to that time (like the speaking in tongues), but have no basis now. In my opinion, we have bigger fish to fry, like re-promoting Absolute Truths in the face of the current tide of moral relativism.

I don't think it is a tattoo, it is just shaven into his hair. It was on the cover of "Eye Hate U" from the Gold Experience.

I'm sure we're all very grateful that we have Prince (I bet you thought he was just a pop star right?) to interpret the word of God for us, tell us where we are going wrong, and ultimately do his best to save our souls.

Thanks Prince, you've more then repaid me for all the cash I've spent on your CDs and concert tickets over the years.

If I didn't have a pop star to tell me how I should live my life, well I think I'd just go mad.

I think God's meaning behind this is due to the religions that were around at the time of the bible being written. Many of the religions back then used religious markings on their bodies in reverance to their God.

It says through out the Bible that we are to worship one god & one god alone - God. So to tattoo ones self was deemed to be of another religion.

Im confused isnt Ctazerussell a JW or something. Not the name here but the real person. I figured someone here using that name is down with him. Or is it someone trying to be funny?

It is the name of the first president of the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society. He organized and financed using his own personal fortune the first group of Bible students who became the organization we know today as The Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. His writings and studies of the scriptures jump-started the group that evolved into what we now have today in 235 lands. We view him as a very honorable person who sacrificed much so that we could progress to the point where we are today. He did not have all the answers, but was faithful to Jehovah and knew that in time we would all continue to grow in our understanding of Scripture and progress in knowledge as time went on (Prov 18:4)
Some like to lie and say that he is the person we follow and whose teachings we subscribe to. This is not the case. There are many changes and correctons we have made since he was alive and continue to do so today. We are not like the sects of Christendom who do this. We do not have a Luther,Wesley,Walden, etc. Christ is our leader. So, yes, I think "TAZE" here is trying to be cute or something with the name. I'm sure he'd tell you we are all "Russelites" or something stupid like that. If you want more info on Jehovah's Witnesses see http://www.jw-media.org or http://www.watchtower.org
Anything else besides info direct from the JWs is likely to be tainted with lies and anti-JW propaganda. As is evident on this site, there are quite a few people obsessed with us and try everything possible to keep people from being able to know what we have to say. (John 15:18,19)

Hey BT6789,

Isnt it also true that Charlie "Craze" Russell was found gulity of perjury due to lying in court about his knowledge of the Hebrew Language? And Theft by Deception for selling Miracle Wheat for $60.00 a bushel and that his gravestone is marked with an Egyptian pyramid, which was used to prophecy the end of the world in 1914?

Or is that propaganda too!!

DCM

(Come on Milton, you can send someone better thatn BT 123456789 to convert all of us infidels!)

I was intrigued with the thought of this "Egyptian pyramid" so I did some research on it. The following link is to some pictures of it:

http://www.paulblizard.com/russ3.html

I noticed that a cross is on the pyramid (all four sides) and he died on Halloween. I also noticed "Risen with Christ" on the pyramid. And, can someone elaborate on the "Laodicean Messenger" part? Thanks.

i collect old WT society publications. i have an original "studies in the scriptures," volume 1, w/ the pyramid fold-out and all (rare... usually they're damaged from age)...

tell the truth, i never quite got this bit. it's not really biblical, so no biggie.

Dear Prince,

Thank you for doing so much to educate people
regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from your beliefs, and try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone has a tattoo, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 19:28 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate.

I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the other specific laws and how to follow them.

Mm... I think you should make a note that you are not the author of this... right now, as is, it appears that you are taking credit for somebody else's work.

right you are. i stole it. thanks for noticing. you win the prize because no one else did.

Hell yes. What's the prize? A new washer/dryer? A trip to Jamaica? Tell me, quick. I'll be waiting with bated breath.

I personally uphold the ethical values as taught in the Bible, but truly believe that many taboos...that were very practical a few thousand years ago, no longer serve the purposes for which they were intended, now.

Hey, I deserved that...btw I'm a girl and I'm no saint. I simply meant that I'm all for the ethical teachings found in the Bible ,but do not sweat the small stuff that's no longer relevant:)

tatoos are wrong since they idolize humans who are just servants or children(according to jews and christains) of GOD.
if u get a prince tattoo, it means u are holding the image or the symbol of prince closer to u then u do with God.

I dont believe in God and i think that the only God i have 2 adore is MYSELF...

Sorry to bring this back to the top, but my cover of 'Eye Hate U' doesn't show this pick and I still can't find the picture I was referring to but I did find a qoute in 'controversy' by Keith Balaam;

'In August 1995, it was reported that o(+> had the o(+> symbol tattooed above his right ear, after having the right side of his head shaved. Friends of the singer said that he was sick of people thinking he was too glitzy. A spokesman for prince said: "He wanted a tough street look to get away from his old image. It was painful but he is more than delighted with the result".

Thats more or less what I had read in the newspaper at the time but it could be a load of old bollox for all I know. biggrin

I know this woman and she told me about it.

She was hurt at frist but shit she got 2 sit back stage with prince and chat about the bible.

She isnt going 2 get any more tats... but she walked away with a bible from prince..

i guess every body has goals in life

p.s. the tat that she showed him ( she has a few symbols and other prince tats) was of his face.

mayb he just didnt like the artist rendition of his features

You mean that she did not even tell Prince to fuck himself for not minding his own business?

honey... she had a tat of princes FACE on her back.. and we r talking a rather large tat there, one symbol on her belly, something else prince related on her arm and leg i believe. He could have told her 2 carve them out with a knife on stage and she probally would have done it.

Idol worship is a bigger sin than tattoos...

Does any 1 have the emancipation lyric book... i am sure thousands of people they were tossing them out free for YEARS... any way there is a pic of a symbol tat hanging off diamonds and pearls...???

It looks like prince cause of the delicate fingers slender hips... i bet he got that in a drunken rage he had with Warner brother excutives.
