the best of 0-) is such a cop out. It makes you wonder the validity of the "vaults" existence. If I had known that was one of the albums slated i never would of joined the club.

Korovyov posted this some time ago...but who really knows what CD's will come out and when, some of us have speculated based on 3 months increments between albums(Feb membersghip, ONA in May, Xenophobia in August, etc):

I think Wellbeyond added a note previously with the same info. Again, we won't really know until we get the CD's via mail, as Prince might change his mind on what albums or songlists on these albums he releases.

I also thought that a "best of" was a total cop out. Some have said that this will be comprised of "remastered or reworked" versions of old songs. This would be cool if he doesn't fuck with the lyrics. Otherwise, I can't imagine him putting out songs like 18 & Over and Poom Poom again just because they were recorded under the prince moniker.

I guess we'll only know for sure when it's released.

Just an idea:

I'm thinking a new "Best of..." CD will likely be similar to the "1999-New Master" CD-- a disc of "prince hits"( pre 1996--recorded under Warner Bros) RE-recorded as prince.

Using prince may let him re-release these songs without any problems from WB. I think most of the re-recordings were made between 93 and 2000-so it makes sense to call it o+> .

To my knowledge there has never been a date given as to when any of the NPGMC cd's will be released. For all we know, Prince could wait until Feb 2003 and release all three remaining discs. Now I have to say that if Prince waited that long before delivering the goods, then that would be really poor customer service and a bad business move. So you know what that means? It means there's a very good chance that's exactly what he's going to do! wink

Seriously though, I would guess that if all 3 remaining discs are released seperately, then we will probably get disc 2 in late August or early September; disc 3 in December and disc 4 in Feb 2003. That's just my guess.

You have to be kidding right? With all of the KNOWN bootleg material that is in circulation do you seriously actually wonder if a vault even exists??? You have to be kidding. The depth of the vault may be in question, but the mere existence of a Prince vault in my opinion is unquestionable.

I'm guessing that the real issue for Prince and his vault is a question of how much time and effort is he willing to put into songs in the vault that are in his opinion "unfinished". For someone like Prince who is constantly dealing with or working on new ideas and moving forward, it's probably kind of hard to start looking backwards. From a fans perspective, we may not care if the vault material is still in "demo" form like most of the boots that we hear. But for Prince, it may be unthinkable to release some of the vault material in "demo" form. Besides, just look at how some fans are responding to the "One Night Alone" cd. It's clear that some of those songs were released in "demo" format and some fans are complaining about that too.

So I guess my point is that concerning the vault, there are a lot of variables that as fans we simply don't have knowledge of and so we spend a lot of time speculating, but that's about all we can do.
