I never got into the opinion that she was mentally challenged.
I just thought she was a very unique,eccentric individual who did things because she wanted to , and not because it was the norm or what society expected. People read into things differently and by provoking thoughtful discussion then Prince has achieved what he intended. Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

Yeah, the song was inspired by a story Susannah told Prince about a 'different'
girl that she used to go school with. The song uses the story to illustrate the need for tolerance for those who are different or don't conform. Not to make fun of someone just because they seem eccentric, and not to assume they're making up stories just because what they say seems outlandish. It's about truth. | |
