Or you could look at it as 'two sides of the same coin' / 'two halves that make a whole'.

Without the cancellation of TBA, there would be no Lovesexy.

Hmm...and perhaps, by extension, no Graffiti Bridge movie. Oh why oh why did TBA have to be canceled????
lol

Bob George is and always will be one of my favorite Prince songs ever.

Most likely we'd have got Graffiti Bridge earlier, but in it's original incarnation - movie and soundtrack, since work was already well underway by the time TBA was cancelled.

If you've read the early script, I dunno which one would be worse, that, or the released version. eek

IMO, this is where Graffiti Bridge's main flaws lie, Prince just spent too darn long with that project, and it ended up a complete hodge-potch of ideas from previous unfinished projects all thrown in, kitchen sink and all, and I think to top it off, he was so desperate to get it out there, he tied up in that dreary Purple Rain II sequel storyline tack-on.

It was like he was trying to tie up loose ends with Graffiti Bridge, and the original idea became obscured by all the junk he put on top of it (although it was pretty wack to begin with! lol ).

See i disagree with this notion that if TBA wasnt cancelled that there wouldnt have been a Lovesexy.

I think at this time Lovesexy was already half in the bag, As stated earlier TBA was just a side project like Madhouse and other stuff. It wasnt meant to be a Prince album.

I just think that Warners pushed for this to be major and that didnt mesh with what Prince wanted to do, so he shelved it.

I think Lovesexy would have been released anyway.

And the idea that it was made in like 3 or 4 weeks just adds to the "Mozart" notion.

He didn't start recording Lovesexy until *after* he decided to cancel the Black Album, it was the whole catalyst for it's recording.

Like I said above, Prince was already well underway with Graffiti Bridge as the next 'Prince' album after SOTT.

This is the truth, so speaketh the voice of reason!!

I was driving along in the rain last night with an old cassete that i found in my car, and rockhardinafunkyplace came on, I felt nothing but pity for the people in their cars without things to listen to, I love the heavy hornz.

I genuinely feel there is a thing missing from your very being if you don't think this is one of the, if not the heaviest funk album you've ever heard.

Pity tha fool!!!
