Top 10 Make-Out Songs

The 10 best make-out songs ever are guaranteed by the irreverent music magazine Blender to make you want to kissie, kissie, smooch, smooch. The list below was assembled based on a poll of revered music journalists (along with heated debate among Blender's staff members). The key to choosing a successful make-out song, Andy Pemberton, Blender's editor-in-chief, told The New York Post, is that it has to be soft and slow, have a gentle loping rhythm with a backbeat, and not be depressing. (Aside to Britney and *N SYNC and Jessica and Christina: Please step away. Your songs aren't on this list.)

The top 10 songs identified as the best make-out songs ever are:
1. "Avalon" by Roxy Music
2. "Turn Off the Lights" by Teddy Pendergrass
3. "Let's Get It On" by Marvin Gaye
4. "Down Low (Nobody Has to Know)" by R. Kelly
5. "If I Was Your Girlfriend" by Prince
6. "November Rain" by Guns N' Roses
7. "Love Serenade" by Barry White
8. "Love to Love You Baby" by Donna Summer
9. "Wild Horses" by the Rolling Stones
10. "All Blues" by Miles Davis

3. "Let's Get It On" by Marvin Gaye

Sick of it. Sacrilege? Get over it.

Brother915

I was thinking about some of the greatest slow jams of all time the other day when me and some of my homies were talking about this subject. I already my picks for top three or four best make out songs of all time...however off the top of my head I'll throw out the other 6 songs at you. Here it goes.

10. Keith Sweat-How Deep Is Your Love???- Now you know you got have some begging on this list right ladies??? You'll be hard pressed to find a male artist that can out begged this brother(except maybe Tyrone Davis..LOL). This song has a nice sensual beat to it(good for taking your clothes off to too) that is sure to make your lover SWEAT!!!

9. Guy-Tease Me Tonight- This slow jam will surely get you and your partner ready for some action. Now you want to be undressed and past the foreplay portion buy the time this song is on. You want to be rolling under the covers like thunder while this song is on...the musical backdrop is just perfect for it. PLEASE BABY DON'TEASE ME...PLEASE ME!!!(LOL)

8. Tyrone Davis- In The Mood...Another begging brother..LOL. Now this is the song you want to have on when you're wrapping your nice candlelight dinner. Hey guys you won't even have to say much that gaze in her eyes and let Tyrone talk for you. Watch her reaction as Tyrone says..." You're like ice cream and girl my love is gon make you MELT"...LOL

7. Heatwave-Always And Forever...This song is a classic and even though I'm a little tired of hearing it on the radio, I have many memories about this song when it first came out back in the 70's. I remember buying the 45 rpm for $1 at KMART. I took it home (my parents were gone)and called this girl around the block who I had a crush on to come over. When she got there me and her started talking, then I went into the living room and put this song on. She said that was sweet of me to put this song on and said that I was romantic. Needless to say my head got THIS BIG..the head on my shoulder THAT IS!!!(LOL) Get your mind out of the gutter fellow orgers..LOL. Anyway a good slow jam to slow dance with your lover to and in the meantime you can whisper those good things in his/her ears to get them ready.

6. Luther Vandross-Forever, For Always, For Love- The title song to Luther's 1982 is a great make out song. The older I get the more I appreciate this man's voice. This whole album is a classic, but this is one of those great foreplay and kissing songs...INDEED.

5. Prince-International Lover...For some reason, I feel that you don't put on a slow jam from LIL MAN unless you and your mate want to get kinky/freaky.It's like his slow jams and kinkiness goes hand-in-hand. Men and women tell me this too. And yes this song is hypnotically erotic and will surely get your partner in the mood to give you "anything your body desires".

4. O'Jays-Let Me Make Love To You- OOO!!! It's getting serious now. "I won't stop, I won't stop, til you ask me to, tell me to,,,BEG ME TO".

3. Marvin Gaye-Distant Lover...This song is great for slow dancing, for heavy forplay and getting seriously busy. Don't use the live version of this song for your hot night of passion. The women screaming at Marvin is somewhat of a distraction. You're want to leave all that screaming stuff to your mate as the both arrived in that wonderful place called ecstasy...

2. Isley Brothers- Don't Say Goodnight (It's Time For Love)-
Like I said earlier, I know four songs off the top that would make my list for best make out jams and this is one of them. This song is so seductive and sexy. And Ronald Isley plays the role of master seducer to a hilt. And the music drives the point home, just check the drums on this.
Ronald's cry of """OOO WEEE.baby" is the zenith of horniness. CLASSIC CLASSIC SLOW JAM!!!

1. Major Harris-Love Won't Let Me Wait- This is it. Out of all the slow jams I've heard in my lifetime, this is the one I pick as the best. This is a song I never get tired of. This song is so hot, sensual and sexy until it's almost pitiful. Listen to the saxophone at the begginnig of this song setting the tone for a hot night of passion. Harris didn't have another big hit after this, but his 15 minutes of fame was one to remember. This was a well written song.Anytime you got a good singer, nice arrangements, nice lyrics, nice background singers, good musicians then you have everything you need for a successful song. Everyone associated with this gem of the song should be taken care of by Atlantic Records for life. I remember seeing Harris perform this song on Soul Train back in 1975. The female on the song moaning toward orgasm just adds more sensuality to this already sexy song. This song is a masterpiece for the ages!!! You and your partner are sure to explode in ecstacy and neither of you will be to blame for of it.smile

"Pillow Talk" , don't know the song but I like the title.
My choice would be
- “Can’t do a thing (to stop me)”, Chris Isaak
- “Don’t try to tell me”, Wendy & Lisa
- “Avalon” indeed
- “Still the one”, Shania Twain
- “More better blues”
- “Sexual healing”, of course
- “Nails in my feet", Crowded House, “your skin is like water on a burning beach”, Neil Finn is a so great singer
- “Saint Lunaire dimanche matin”, Etienne Daho( a french pop singer, the best imo)
- “Insatiable” or “Slow love" or “Do me baby” or... Prince
- “Noon rendez vous”, Sheila E or maybe “Fire” by Pointer Sisters (a Bruce Springsteen song) or "I touch myself" Divinyls or...

Good Morning Everyone,

It is so hard to pick the top 10 make out songs so here are some more great ones, so to follow up my last list here are some more...

***The Whispers-More Of The Night

***Marvin Gaye- Til Tomorrow

***Gary Taylor- Tease Me(Get Me In The Mood For Love)

***Bell Biv Divoe-Something In Your Eyes

***Sade- Love Is Stronger Than Pride

***Barry White- Love Making Music

***The Dells-Stay In My Corner

***Brighter Side Of Darkness- Love Jones

***Paula Abdul-Next To You- This song is awesome. Virgin Records should have released this one as a single off of Abdul's debut record FOREVER YOUR GIRL.

***The Barkays-Feels Like I'm Falling In Love- These guys make some awesome slow jams. This one is from their 1981 album "NightCrusin".

***Robert Winters-Magic Man...This one is a R&B lost classic. This man has an amazing range. He sort of bring Prince to mind, as he can sing in bass key then gravitate to falsetto in a twinkling of an eye.

That's a lovemaking song, not simply make-out song..lol wink

Make-out songs:

Let's Get It On--Marvin Gaye..(sorry, Supernova...but it's a classic..lol)

Insatiable--Prince...(the slow, seductive thump, the lyrics...the things I could do to this song...)

Happiness, Togetherness--Heatwave...(I can't believe you said that, David!!..lol)

Reasons--Earth, Wind & Fire...(well, up until Phillip Bailey starts in with the high-pitched "ooh-wee"-ing...that might ruin the mood)

I forgot ALL about that song...as well as Benson's cover of it...and you're right, David, it's very haunting, always loved it...songs like these are why Quincy Jones hooked up with Rod Temperton and started having him write songs for the likes of Micheal Jackson and The Brothers Johnson...

Great choices Belle. When I first heard Patrice Rushen's(Patrice is one of my all-time favorite female artists) "Settle For My Love", I knew I had to have that song. The orginal album that song is off of is superb too. The album is called PIZZAZZ released in 1979. It is one of Rushen's best offerings. It also contains her breakthough hit "Haven't You Heard". Unfortunately, the album is out of print.

And yes that Bobby Caldwell's "What You Won't Do For Love" is a stone cold make-out classic. Some top notch blue-eyed soul. I never get tired of that one. Love those horn riffs!!!

What about Scandalous? His vocals sound like he was definitely in need of something...or got it while he recorded it.
