i went to best buy..i was there the minute they opened..i had checked with them monday night and they told me they had 8 in stock that would be put out tuesday morning..i grabbed all but one copy..in the pic you can see i only opened up the far left copy:)

I checked Best Buy near my work, and they had a bin set up, with $14.99 as the sale price marked! In place of the Ultimate set, there was a butt-load of "Te Amo Corazon" singles in its place!!!!



I also checked Target, and they also had a bin set up (their sale price was $9.99!!!!), but they had hastily shoved a couple copies of The Very Best Of Prince into the bin, I guess to cover their asses for the folks coming in to buy what they saw in the add this week.

I went to Target in my super-small town today, and they had the sale ad up for the cd, but no cds. I asked an employee where they were, and he said that they "sold out." I wonder if he knows what he's talking about though. I was sure that I was the only person in this county who ever bought Prince cds.

Man, I checked everywhere yestereday with no luck and varying degrees of excuses. We even have 2 Best Buys in my area and nothing. More so when you saw the 9.99 Target ad and then nothing.
To be honest after hearing 3121 (which is cool, not great) I'd much rather have Ultimate. To have classic, great Prince remastered and cleaned-up is higher on my list than having new 2006 Prince. Yes I'm a audiophile geek meaning I buy up most remastered reissues but I like to have the best sound source I can get. Needless to say I'm bummed.

I went to my Beast Buy the other day (Roseville, MN) to see if they had the new Metal Gear Solid 3 and when browsing through the CD's I noticed a guy combing over the entire Prince section. I can only assume it was Ultimate Prince he was looking for, but it would seem the didn't have it.

Is there any word from Warner Bros or Rhino about a new release date or how they're handling this sitution?

I just found it in Florida. Whoo-hoo! I bought two. One for me and one, well, you know, just in case...if nothing else it'll make a nice gift down the road.

A friend of mine called Rhino today, and though they couldn't confirm anything "officially", they said Ultimate Prince would be postponed by about 6 months. He said they didn't seem too happy about being called about this, but they did give out that information.

Has anyone found a copy at anywhere besides Best Buy? I've checked 3 in the Northern VA area and no dice. No Prince either.

The 2 disc collection Ultimate Prince, which was due to arrive in stores on March 14th, has been delayed. No reason was given for the delay. No new release date was given and the project now is in the TBD category (to be determined).

The Ultimate Prince collection serviced to the media included one disc of 17 popular Prince hit songs (including "Purple Rain," "When Doves Cry" and "1999") among others and the second disc of the collection included some popular but hard to find Prince dance mixes and extended editions.
