Do you guys remember at the AMA 1985?

That Vanity presented the award for best album of the year and Purple Rain won? She seem really happy for Prince. I thought they had a falling out. You'd think she would be kinda regretful that something she choose not to be apart of became so successful. But she wasn't. smile It seemed Prince and her made up pretty quickly. Did anyone eles notice this?

LOL! Yeah I noticed that recently too. I didn't at the time it aired, though. I was too busy screaming like a white woman. lol

She couldn't wait to see the results, she literally ripped it out out the other presenter's hand and read it herself. Priceless!!

I remember when Wendy's Dad introduced Prince & The Revolution before they took the stage and performed Purple Rain which had the entire house and every home in America crying. The performance was fucking amazing.
I wish I could see it again. Is it anywhere on the net?

I have mine AND I know exactly where it is! I saw this when it aired that night on ABC. Me and my Prince clique couldn't believe that P was actually going to play live at the awards show. I was like "Nah, P is waaay to cool for some silly award show. He's not going to show." Dig, I was 14, so give me a break. His performance of Purple Rain, still to this day, is one of my fave performances from him. He turned that shit OUT! And he was HELLA loud. But uh, Ias far as Vanity, yeah, she was grinning ear to ear, but P I felt, looked reserved, like "Nah V,...u blew it...Step...Now, move out of the way and let me get this award."

confused She made an umph when MJ was nominated, which shows you how insecure the Prince camp was. The only reason they nominated him was to fuel a rivalry, the album was 2 plus years old, he shouldn't have even been nominated in those categories with Prince.

So do you think Prince really loved Denise like he loved Susannah, Mayte and Mani? Or do you think he just liked her? Cuz Wonderful Ass doesn't seem like well a geninune love song. But yet in some ways they seemed to be close and had good chemistry. And didn't Andre Cymone say Prince wrote LOTS of songs about her at that time? Possessed made it seem like he just really liked her for her looks and personailty wise she wasn't his type...but yet...they seemed close. I can't tell if they were really close or it was just more for image.

I watched this clip last month. Prince did tear shit up. Prince in 1985 was bigger than Usher, Jay Z, and Mariah put together.

Krys, damn...I wish u were able to go back in time, cuz u LOVE the hell out of that period! I believe that P and Vanity, at one time, were pure soul mates. I would say that he loved Vanity in a big way. Maybe even more than Susannah, who I think P also loved a great deal. He planned for Vanity to be by his side during the Purple Rain explosion. He built that around Vanity, for Vanity. I think it hurt P to do that film without Vanity. So, when that kind of pain happens,..man,.. u shut down on that person. U try to forget about them. Don't wanna see shit that reminds u of them. And he had to film a bigtime project like that without someone who he shared his dreams with. And was planning to take a long with him.

nod It's that obvious I'm curious about those two huh? LOL! When I first got into Prince I was facinated by their relationship. But I guess started romantisizing Prince and Mayte because that was during "my" era I guess you could say. But I don't know....it really sounds like Denise was a big part of his life and left a lasting impression. biggrin

That's exactly what I said. P made damn sure that he was going to throw down that night. He had a national audience and he was going to take advantage of that. He seized on it just like MJ did on the Motown 25th with Billie Jean.
