I don't care much for the preaching of TRC or the much lauded "Darth Vader" voice, but it does contain inspired and daring music, at least by the actual definitions of the terms.

i like it. i hated the rainbow children. musically it was awesome, but the lyrics and bullshit vadar voice made me hate it.

this is the first time since the gold experience i have mostly liked a prince record

As I recall, at the time of the release of TRC, a number of Orgers were predicting that Prince would revisit more innocuous pop craftings in a few years.

Some, actually, were hoping so .. that TRC represented more a detour than a destination. Hard to say which represents which, these days. But, from the Beyonce/Grammy deal, he's been on a roll ... to the bank.
