If there were no SNL, this would probably been the fav of many. I like it too.Why do you like playing around with my narrow scope of reality? - Stupify

I never did like "Cream" (studio) after I saw and heard the way Prince performed it on Arsenio Hall 9-9-91 -- I feel the same way about "Fury" (studio).

Maybe that's one of the problems Prince has - his fans are too complacent...
I'm sorry, but i could listen to the album version of Fury 10,000 times, and although it's nice, it is NOTHING compared to the SNL version. Why o why can't he TRUELY ROCK on an album like he can live - just fuckin' ONCE!!!!! 20+ albums full of funk, NONE that truely ROCK!!! come on, you've shown many times live u can do it....

I'm not sure that i see the song in the same light. I've arguably only heard the studio version only once, but have been on HQ and seen the SNL version ten times.
It -the snl version- is very good and a bit of a showpiece, but not 'that' good. His guitar playing isn't outstanding, nor is his vocal performance. It is a live version so it is supposed to leave an impression. The studio effort seems more balanced. I'm sure that he could do a better rock version of it, but i'm not sure if it should be done on the SNL arrangement I feel pretty, that's enough

I am SO curious and anxious to hear the album version of "Fury", after reading all the posts comparing it to the SNL performance version (which I thought was absolutely AMAZING).

I have the audio version of SNL and I think the power of that performance lies in the visual. Prince just plain out tore it up on stage. I am getting to like the studio version, but I still slightly prefer having the synth line down in the mix a bit and the guitar a little more forward (as in the live cut). I also love Prince's vocal urgency in the live track. Only given the studio version about 10 listens though which is way to early to judge for a Prince track.
Looking forward to buying the offical version. [Edited 3/15/06 5:53am]

When you listen to the studio version of "Fury" independent of the live version, then you can truly appreciate it. Naturally, I like the SNL version more, but as you stated, a lot of that has to do with the visuals. Watching Prince, Tamar, Nandy and Mya tear that stage up was and is an awesome experience. I've watched the video a million times. I even try to the ladies choreographed dance moves . I love it. I would have liked the guitar to be a little higher in the mix and would have liked for ladies backng vocals to have appeared on the studio version. Other than that, it sounds good to my ears. Fury is one of my top 2 songs on 3121.

I agree with you guys for the most part...I wouldn't mind if the guitar was pushed up a bit in the mix...But as an album cut, it's cool as is...HOWEVER...if the purple midget plans on releasing "Fury" as a single to rock radio formats, he better re-mix that shit...That's when the guitar should scream....
